Not my art! This was drawn in 2017 by TDiB. This is not just another in the Tarot series of commissions, but it's also a creation myth of sorts and in its own way one of the most personal pieces of art I've commissioned.
The Wheel turns, and all things are both brought to dust and renewed with its turnings.
Excerpts from my original commission description:
"Within the laurels of the card, the main element is swirls and wreathes of grey and
light blue/purple mists. The stuff of primal chaos, it bears nothing
within it in the way of structure or order. Where Wheel and primal chaos meet, the Wheel
orders it, drawing it in and gathering it up within itself. The edge
between the two is thus somewhat blurred.
The background behind the spokes is half sea surface and half starry
night, a few of the twinkling lights visible reflected on, or possibly
within, the gentle swells of the waters. The horizonline between sea and
sky is blurred, the last place within the Wheel's structure where a thin
tracery of the primal chaos of the mists emerges 'twixt the two. And
meeting in the middle of and in front of all this is the central hub of
the wheel. The axis, the central point of the wheel is a turning
Yin/Yang, with the dark Yin above the white Yang."
