So now I put aside Spunky the Smiling Spook #1 and turn to page 23 of https://comicbookplus.com/?dlid=24987 ... Spunky the Smiling Spook #2. Which is another issue of this comic featuring no trace of a ghost named Spunky, or any other kind of ghost, apart from the cover. It does have a story with Spunky the Kangaroo. Who, by the way, I only just this past week realized was also the kangaroo from Frisky Animals on Parade. The one who was getting filled up at the dentist, https://www.furaffinity.net/view/39861484/ ... I don't know. I guess I was thrown by how he's Spunky the Joey in some stories and Spunky the Kangaroo in others.
Anyway. In the original story Spunky's Mother is giving him a lecture about not pretending to be other people, something we don't have any reason to think crossed his mind. This inspires the little rotter to go to the soda counter and pretend to be the Prince of Kangavania, which results in his being sold to the circus, as will happen. Never mind. I really liked the pose of Spunky lounging in his mother's pouch like this. Like, to the point if I ever did a YCH offering this is probably the first pose I'd try with. It looks so nice and cozy.
I drew this using the simulated technical pen, with a uniform line. Not sure that served me well. I might re-try it with the 'Kelly pen', the one that tries to emulate Walt Kelly's brush strokes. We'll see.
I know Spunky's Mother's arm looks weird. It looks weird in the original too.
