When she had the opportunity away from work Deanna opted for a complete change of scenery. It seemed silly that she'd first have to drive before she could bike but in the end it was all for that view. From the reflective glass and towering concrete monuments to industry to the sunlight dancing over a vast lake, Deanna was in a whole other world. The sounds of car horns during lunch and the expletives after most people punched out of work were replaced with the rustling trees and whistling winds. Stopping over in a small town just over a hill and through a valley she parked and offloaded her favorite two wheels. A little present to herself after laying off the snacks for a couple of months she got into burning up the road and her legs from the effort of pedaling. And it set off a burning for a change of scenery, as stopping for every light doesn't feel that freeing. She walked her bike up the rise of a hill, seeing an expanse of long roads and the flanking trees, all the outline of an enormous lake, glistening daylight calling her attention. She took a breath of cool air and stepped forward and upward, settling her feet on the pedals and cruising down the decline, wind whistling as she set her pace. The curves were long and the road wide, the green expanse breaking occasionally for side trails and various stops, but generally unsettled and untamed. She'd gone miles now and felt a break was in order, spotting a nice spot. There behind some hills she'd seen a collection of wooden structures as the road connected to a small pier with some boats docked. She didn't know much if anything about sailing but always though it fascinating. She rode up on the quiet stretch of wood and steel to the end of the dock, steadying her breath as the words caught in her chest. "Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful." At least she said in her thoughts as she was taken by the view. The mountains rose skyward and stretched across the water, slight ripples from fish and water birds floating about here and there. She felt that from the city to here she knew which view would always steal her breath. Of course she couldn't stay forever, as work was felt a world away, but that it made coming back, if only for the view, beyond worth it.
