Name: Memphis
Species: Timber wolf
Eye colour: Blue
Markings: Pale blue with the same white legs, belly and blaze as Ziggy and Raseri. She has a white tail tip and white dots on the back of each ear, like a Bengal tiger. Her nose is dark blue, as are her paw pads. Her eyes are large and expressive, moreso than a 'regular' wolf.
She is rather big boned with large paws, but is elegant with it, and no attempt should be made to slim her down (as seems to be the fashion in drawing feminine canines at the moment)
Extras: No piercings, no jewellery.
General:
Memphis is my third fursona.
She and Raseri were created simultaneously to represent my 'good' and 'bad' sides.
The name Memphis is actually drawn from Egyptian history rather than from the state, though both work for me. In Ancient Egypt, Memphis was the daughter of Nile and went on to have a place named after her. In ancient Egypt, it was called Mennophir "the good place". This is pretty fitting since Memphis is the polar opposite to Raseri; she represents all my good or pleasant qualities. She's humble, considerate, a bit of a dreamer, likes peace and calm and tends to think about things quite deeply. She is playful and excitable, and loves to make others laugh.
She is also very creative and loves poetry, music and art. She has drive and ambition and big ideas, and is confident enough to go out and get what she wants.
She doesn't like violence or aggression and tends to back down to Raseri more often than not. She can be a bit of a doormat, and others tend to take advantage of her good nature. This doesn't mean she can't be aggressive; she will defend her friends and family to the death if need be, though she will try all other options first.
Memphis is very good at the 'agony aunt' role, and likes to help others with their problems.
Despite her generous and seemingly flawless personality, she suffers from feelings of guilt that despite her best efforts, she can never quite do enough or please everyone she would like to please.
I basically gave Memphis all the qualities I like about myself. Unfortunately, more often than not, it is the 'bad' me which is most seen, but I know these qualities do exist inside me, and occasionally they come out.
I am a wolf therian, so Memphis also represents this side of me, so will be used in this context too. I steered clear of making a wolf character for a long time simply because they are so terribly over-done, often by people who have no real connection to the species but simply choose them because they're popular or 'cool'. In the end I decided that I was not going to let anyone else dictate what I should and shouldn't be able to draw and I'm glad I did.
Memphis is fairly generic in appearance because I wanted to keep her as 'pure' as possible, hence no piercings or adornments. Her markings mirror Ziggy's, just lighter, to keep her connection to myself. There is nothing complex or intricate about her design, and I purposely wanted her to be rather humble in appearance. The dots on the backs of her ears are probably the only deviation from this, and were added just to give her some kind of distinction from the 5000 other blue wolf characters out there.
