Among the very largest of demons under the demon king Felnir, is his Lord of Greed, Zy'eth, the endlessly greedy, silver tongued, golden serpent.

Zy'eth is an extremely ancient demon from a different realm, mentioned in many old myths. In general he was portrayed as a cunning, manipulative demon who would twist the minds of others for his personal gain with false promises and beliefs, but was usually mentioned as physically weak and able to be overcome by ignoring his words. This was in fact, true for much of the beginning of his life. He held little power and was basically a bottom feeding pitiful being of deceit. However, Zy'eth was a creature of opportunity. He knew when to seize one when he saw it, he knew all he had to do was wait. Using his greed to his advantage, Zy'eth learned the art of artificery, the arcane art of imbuing object with power and magical effects. With this, he finally granted himself power by wearing the now enchanted objects in his possession. It was a start but still not enough. However, his chance finally did come.

In a extremely turbulent era of his home realm, wars between angels and demons raged on all over. Zy'eth did not participate directly but knew something a great importance. Where there was war, there were spoils to be had. Slithering the battlefield, inconspicuous enough to be ignored, the serpent began to collect all the fallen angels and demons possessed directly from their corpses. He also knew that the bodies of such beings housed great power and as a result began to consume to bodies of the fallen like some sort of deranged scavenger. Perhaps being a demon, he had a much higher preference for angelic flesh. This preference, after many ages changed his body to mimic that of his prey. His scales shined with a resplendent golden color and he gained abilities of the holy ones. With this and the fact that the wars were soon coming to a close with both sides nearly annihilated, Zy'eth hatched a brilliant idea, the one he is still most proud of today.

Using his astronomically increased power from ages of hoarding, Zy'eth posed himself as a holy savior to the people of the war torn worlds in his realm, and the heavens, knowing their strength too diminished to object to his rule, allowed the snake a chance to bring stability. On the other side, very few demons recognized him for he was in fact much older than most of them. Zy'eth threatened to obliterate the rest of the demons that remained, if they did not submit to his new "holy" order. Weakened as they were, the demons gave in. Just like that, Zy'eth united the whole realm under him and became the most powerful being in his realm and a king all his own...but he did not eventually become a lord of greed for nothing, he desired more. Trusting no one, Zy'eth continued to work on his own, slowly draining all the realm of everything they had, all offered up to him as "gifts" for being the savior he was. He used them to further enhance his power until he was way beyond any of those under his rule.

Noticing too late that all the snake was motivated by was greed, those under him continued to serve and shower him with gifts. Those that attempted to fight back were no match and swiftly destroyed. Zy'eth remained alert and active, never complacent, never satisfied, with no one ever able to find a way to dethrone him. Soon enough the whole realm met a grim end under his endless greed.

In the end all beings in his realm were bled dry and starved of all they had, until not one remained. Zy'eth remained the overlord of a dead realm. He had absolutely everything to himself and was relieved to finally have no worries. He lived on with his wealth alone for a time...but then as expected he wanted even more. Although he had the ability to invade another realm and continue there, the ages he spent basically paranoid and having to proceed with utmost caution at all times left him weary. He had spent all his countless years this way and desired no more of it. His greed continued to trouble him but he could not get himself to move on to another realm. Fortunately, he was blessed with another opportunity.

Seeking powerful demons to serve directly under him, a king of another realm came before Zy'eth. Very impressed with the serpent's achievement of subjugating and entire realm all to satisfy his greed, the demonic dragon king name Felnir offered the serpent a place under him as Lord of Greed. He promised the snake anything he possibly with little to no responsibility of his own. Zy'eth was ecstatic, the golden opportunity of a life time just walked right up to him. The snake left with his new liege, taking all he had with him, his realm merging with the demonic plains of Felnir.

In the ages to come, Felnir only asked that Zy'eth assist him in terms of espionage, knowing how well the serpent was able to move unnoticed by the most powerful beings of his home realm in plain sight. Felnir sent him to gather information on nations, worlds, and realms the dragon had an interest in conquering among a few smaller tasks. The serpent, with his silver tongue, magical prowess, and vast experience with such activities excelled tremendously. He easily was able to mask his body's appearance and fit it quite nicely wherever he went. This he gladly did for his king for the life he was granted.

Zy'eth lived a life of untold luxury, gaining more power than every before thanks to his artificery but unlike before where he had to keep alert, Zy'eth was finally able to be complacent and truly basked in his riches. This is where the snake gained his massive form, as his vast overconsumption and very relaxed life style ballooned his body up to proportions that made him among the very largest of demons in Felnir's rule. He eventually saw this as one of the many signs of his success, seeing the extra weight as a simple matter of having to enchant an item to support it. The ancient demon could not ask for a better life, his greed now endlessly satisfied.
