I wanted to do something like this after looking at a Bouguereau's Madonna with Child. I really liked the folds of that lady's clothes. I tried to draw my own Madonna and I ended up with a sleepy pencil-pusher. Maybe she's the mother of invention or something.
The challenge on this one: pose, values, edges, and drapery. I wanted I couldn't get the values as light as I really wanted, and I had a lot of trouble when I tried to make the shadows rigid. I learned to lose some of the edges I was making to give a dreamier feel.
