Hmm, backstory...
She’s escaping from the illegal secret research lab where they transformed her into a centaur, of course! She doesn’t mind what she’s been turned into — but living trapped in a cell, and being constantly poked and prodded and examined, day after day after day? Anything would be better! And today, at last, when the guards were distracted while she was exercising out in the courtyard, she managed to escape. This canyon is only a few miles from the lab, and the sirens are blaring and the dogs aren’t far behind her, so run, Myrine, run!
(Maybe not the backstory you’d have chosen, but that’s what I saw ^^; )
