GET TO KNOW DINO BABIES:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKacgS3UasQ
Ducky is, of course, from The Land Before Time
“Has anyone seen Marshall?” the older of the two dino baby brothers asked.
Labrea folded her arms over her chest and gave a sigh.
“You’re the big brother,” she stated towards Franklin. “How can you call yourself a big brother if you don’t even know where your little brother is.”
Franklin was an anxious dino baby. So Labrea’s remark made him gulp as worst possible outcomes started to fill his mind.
Truman, the designated storyteller of the dino babies, went to reassure his friend.
“Don’t start making bad stories in your head, Franklin,” he stated while putting a hand on Franklin’s shoulder. “Marshall never wanders too far. We’ll find him.”
“If he hasn’t already been found,” squawked Dac, a winged dino baby, as he circled like a vulture over the group. “I actually just saw him being taken away by a mean-looking dino baby with a really big mouth.”
Franklin gulped as Stanley stared down Dac.
“Stop scaring Franklin,” he firmly stated. “If Marshall was in trouble with this ‘big mouthed dino baby’ you would’ve went and told a grown-up instead of coming here.”
Dac landed and gave a displeased look.
“You are always flip-flopping on us, Dac!” scolded Lebrea. “If you can’t be sensitive to scaredy-egg Franklin, you don’t need to come by at all!”
Franklin didn’t know whether to be thankful, or insulted. He decided on both to not start any trouble.
“Well, dac,” Stanley gestured. “Show us Marshall with this ‘big mouth dino baby’.”
Dac was going to try and cause some more trouble. However Labrea had already started to glare at him while punching her fist into her palm.
“Right!” cried Dac. “Just try to keep up!”
***
“Oh, wowie!” giggled Marshall as he held hands with a duck-beaked dino baby. “I always wanted a sister!”
The diaper-clad crested dinosaur appeared confused.
“I still do not know how I gotted here,” she replied. “I do not remember ever seeing you in The Great Valley. Nope, nope, nope!”
The cloth-diaper wearing baby brother of Franklin laughed.
“I like how you talk,” he said. “Are you my little sister? Or are you my big sister?”
The blue-eyed, green-colored dinosaur tugged at the oddly textured garment around her waist.
“How about telling me what this thing is?” she worried as she realized it was not going to come off like any other thing that had ever been on her body.
“Silly sister,” Marshall happily replied while clapping his hands. “That’s your diaper.”
“Diaper?” the confused dino baby asked while tapping one of her clawed fingers upon her beak. “I do not understand. No, no, no.”
Marshall beamed.
“That means you’re my little sister!” he cheered merrily. “I wish on ‘Blue Light Special’ and get you to be my little sister! Just wait until the others hear about this!”
“Others?” the duck-beaked dinosaur worried as her eyes grew wide.
Marshall giggled as he took hold of his ‘little sister’s’ hands.
“Oh, yay!” he cheered while starting to dance. “And I also wish sister can tell stories like Truman. So can you tell me a story?”
“Tell you a story?” she thought while trying to keep up with Marshall. This was when she noticed some other strange dinosaurs coming out from a nearby clearing. This made her feel it was best to play along.
“Oh,” she laughed nervously. “I got good stories to tell. I do! I do!”
***
“Wha-wha-what’s that?” trembled Franklin as he watched his baby brother ‘grappling’ with the big-mouthed dino baby.
“I bet its parents are just around the boulder over there,” Dac teased. “Though you will be an only brother and get more time and stuff from your mommy and daddy without baby Marshall stinking things up for you.”
Franklin turned white as a ghost.
Labrea shrugged her shoulders.
“Truman,” she stated with more annoyance than authority. “Keep a watch over freaked-out Franklin while Stanley and I get to the bottom of this.”
“There-there, Franklin,” assured Truman. “That dino baby has a diaper, too. It can’t be too scary and bad to be with your brother.”
“I just want to go home,” cowered Franklin. “I want to go home!”
Dac chuckled.
“You are more the baby brother than Marshall is,” he taunted. “Maybe you need to go back in diapers, too?”
***
“…Big water?” asked Franklin. “We were in a fun ship and sailed around the world to get home when land was going into the water.”
“Ship?” the concerned dinosaur inquired. “What is a ship? Is it like a log? We sailed across big water on a big log.”
Marshall continued to more bounce around jovially with his ‘sister’ going along with it.
“Oh, I have so much to teach you…,” he trailed. “What’s your name?”
“I am Ducky,” she replied while feeling she needed to really step up the amusement of the creature who held her hands as two of the bigger ones grew nearer-and-nearer. “What is yours?”
“I’m Marshall!” he cheered. “Now tell me another story about big water and stuff!”
***
“Should we stop this?” asked Stanley while noticing how Marshall was enjoying himself far more than the other dino baby.
Labrea turned to see Truman trying to comfort Franklin as dac laughed.
“Nah,” she replied. “She tells good stories and we could use a better storyteller than Truman.”
***
Marshall eventually ran out of energy and suggested he and his ‘new little sister’ take a nap. He also asked if she needed a new diaper as he always got his diaper changed before a nap by his mommy. Ducky went along until Labrea and Stanley introduced themselves, proved they were no threat, and decided to add her to the gang until her mommy came back for her.

And, most importantly, I could never have done it without you having shared these wonderful characters with me, Leon. :)

I like how you and Yip are like a team in developing stories while sharing lesser known, but extremely adorable, characters. This work, for me, was a three part collaboration more than just an art commission. You introduced me to Dino Babies, Yip picked this as the idea to go with for a commission with Ducky, and I wrote the story for it.
Thanks oodles, Leon! :)

Thanks for checking this out, Toroth. You have no idea how humbling it is to get such praise from you. My day is made! :)

I never did see Dino Babies before going 100% blind. I learned about it through
leonXIII who, like
parumpee and
yipthecoyotepup, I have gotten to discover wonderful shows that I had missed.
Though, just like learning to be a better hatchling, what matters is that one does get the chance to increase their knowledge and inspiration through the suggestions and encouragement of friends. *Crinklesnugs*

*Claps hands merrily while skipping about* Hoo and Ray! *Quacks before snuggling the clever squiggle* Thanks for checking out the story that I put to Yip's art. (It is fun to see how well my stories translate to art that I, physically, do not see. Praise from you means big win!)
Oh yeah! I listened to this the other day, you did a good job! Fun lil interaction with Ducky! Haha I don't think I've heard of Dino Babies before, they do seem a bit familiar, but, it's cool you found another show and one to write about and commission. :3 Neat all the different dinos can hang out, even if it's making their way through tricky situations, they've got this! Yup yup yup.
I'm glad you found a tool to help make reading easier on the eyes. (Being blind and having a screen reader makes reading so much easier. As I lost my eyesight, I would use it to read stories aloud while I did other things to not put undue pressure on my dying eye. The mechanical voice in annoying, but you learn to kind of tone it out.)

Interestingly enough, Andrea Libman (Pinkie Pie / Fluttershy) and Kathleen Barr (Trixie / Queen Chrysalis) voiced in the show!
It's hard to believe how many VAs we grew up with. :)
