So, my cousin is having a baby, and I have been so excited and very busy crafting for it's arrival. I also am very excited about amigurumi- the Japanese art of crocheting and knitting extremely detailed little dolls and playthings. This is the result- I ended up giving it to my dog because I was not sure of the colors- what it took me three hours to create, took her about fifteen minutes to destroy.
Anyways, Socktopus is made out of 1/8 skein of Shepherd's Wool in pink Champagne, and maybe sixteen yards worth of Shepherd's Wool in Grass Green, some fiberfill, and three hours of loving craftsmanship. I think I'll remake him in yellow and orange, tie an orange ribbon around the mantle, and give him to the baby, be it a boy or girl. C:

Oh, haha, thanks! He had a really, really obvious seam around his head because I was way too lazy to kitchner stitch, so he wasn't as cute as I photographed him to look. C:
As far as selling one... sure! I have no idea how much to charge, he's not very big...maybe ten inches long and four inches or so around at his widest point. I'd probably charge like...minimum wage per hour for his constuction and that's 7.50 over here, so...like....22.50? Lol.

That's a pretty fair price. :O I may hit you up with my next bit of spare money, 'cause I have a buddy [who hopefully won't see this c_c but she isn't watching you afik] who would freaking LOVE this.
Would a cuttlefish or a squid be terrible more complicated? I know... nothing about knitting or sewing so, an octopus seems to my uneducated mind like it'd be easier, but I could be dead wrong. X)

It makes me happy too! C:
Sea critters are amazing! On the weekends I work at the aquarium with the octopus Carol, and she LOVES to cuddle. If you put your arm in her tank she wraps around it and tries to pull you down into the tank! I can't decide if she's trying to play or if she has murder on her mind. We have a tank of cuttlefish too, but they're usually doing their own thing and can't be bothered with me. They just spawned and the babies are just now big enough that you can make them out without needing a magnifying glass...TOO CUTE.
The best part about living in DC is I never have to take my own pictures...here's Carol!

Their skin is kind of thin and it has a really high moisture content. I want to say it feel like an old person's eyelid, but I've never really rubbed an old person's eyelid, so I don't really know. Her mantle and arms feel more like the inside of your cheek. And they are REALLY strong. She is all muscle and squish. C:
lol, hahah. GAH That sounds so neat! I am jealous. I'd love to work with, or volunteer with sea critters. I am especially fascinated by octopuses 'cause they're so smart. Not that smart is the end all be all importance to any creature, I just find high intelligence in the animal kingdom fascinating.
