My Trip to Artillery Park. Ford Republic JB-2
One of the more odd and out of place looking items at the park is what at first looks to be a V-1 Flying Bomb but is not. He Ford-Republic JB-2 was the second type of "Jet Bombs" (hence the JB-2 designation) built by the US and is a near identical copy of the V-1. Developed in 1944 after wrecks and captures of the V-1 had been made the JB-2 was intended to be used during Operation Downfall to precisely hit targets that do to reasons just couldnt be flattened by the B-29 horde, but as the Invasion of Mainland Japan never happened the weapon was never used in combat. However the tests and development made large leaps pf progress and learning for later weapons such as the Martin MGM-1 Matador (which my friends Grandfather worked on) and the Martin MGM-13 Mace.
