The dead roamed free. Blood spilled onto the sand in the wake of a cataclysm, the survivors scattering into the desert. Hunted at every turn by the mummified forms of family and friends.
A vile necromancy had tainted their land. Cursing the fallen to rise back up and be absorbed into a growing tide of wandering death. Though a few resisted the spread, they ultimately fell before it, simply becoming part of the inexorable force they strove to fight against. Chaos and uncertainty clouded the future, and it became difficult for those who remained to imagine the world ever returning to a state of comparative order and safety like it had been before.
In the midst of the madness, two wayward children of the Gods, a white-feathered ibis and a black-furred jackal, crossed paths amidst the shifting sandstorms. Recognition washed over each as their eyes made contact, and they could not help but embrace one another. Relieved to once again meet with a familiar face who'd always provided comfort and support. Before either could fully relax however, they found themselves surrounded by the horde.
Cold desire froze surrounding rubble in the grasp of a telekinetic field. Fiery passion burning within the soul ignited a blade with flame. Teacher and student reunited, they turned to face the oncoming tide of undead.
The wave crashed against them, breaking against rock. Each drew strength from the other. Determined not to let this be the end, they held tightly to the hope for a better tomorrow.
Blackhorn Buck and I first got to talking largely because of his jackal character, which lead to a friendship I now cherish.
What started as a tribute to that... morphed halfway through into EGYPTIAN HEAVY METAL WITH ZOMBIES! And I'm not even sorry. Also where it took my vampire a little over 5 months to achieve a furry transformation, it took less than a day for my bird to experiment with being drawn as 100% avian. That's progress for you I suppose! From now on any characters I make will probably have at least two forms; a human-ish one, and a full anthro version. Which may or may not lead to TF shenanigans.
For this wonderful artwork I once again have
HolySeven to thank! 8D I always get hyped working with them, as the conversations leading up to the image are often just as fun as the outcome itself!

Even when surrounded by the forces of Chaos, order and justice can still be found in those who are willing to make a stand for it. Behold, the servant of Thoth and the chosen of Anubis. May Ma'at preserve them, and the fires of Ra rend their enemies to bring peace again to the world of the Nile.
Excellently done, my friend. Once again, you show excellent writing chops and incredible taste in artists. It's simply beautiful. Well done! *Applauds*
