This is from a while back, this is Coon McKite, one of the Guardians of Clan McKite - a large family of characters I've developed over the years.

Born in the middle ages, Coon was discarded by his mother by being left in a gutter. He was taken in by a very poor family of coal miners. Upon his 18th Birthday, he was approached by another guardian who explained who his real family was - and that because he had lived to reach the age of his magic he would have to return to the family to become a guardian, or die.

Guardians are cursed at the time of their 'change' to only be able to achieve sexual fulfillment with males and only in a given situation - a fetish of some sort. Coon's accidental choice of fetish was to taste blood. He is, therefore, the person behind the vampire myth.

Staking a vampire is a misnomer - stakes were associated with Coon's actions because his magic involves the use of wood (including the wooden feathered wings on his back). He could often leave anyone he was told to kill staked through the heart with his weapon of choice.

And no. He doesn't sparkle.
