My problem is that I know what my problem is. I'm melancholy, self-victimizing, pessimistic, snappy, and paranoid.
I'll stop it. I'll fix it. I'll be the person I know I can be.
... Once I figure out how. Just turning off the "bad" part of your brain is a lot harder than most people realize.

Yeah, I had some personality problems too- for the most part, in the past. Surprisingly, what really helped me was reading about psychology, social interaction, sociology, etc. It's an interesting subject- led me to becoming a Psych major in college- and really put some things in perspective for me.
It's never too hard, or too late, to be who you want to be.

AHAHA. Seriously?
I've been taking psych classes too, and they're doing a lot to help me understand why I act the way I do, and how to work through a few things. I'm still bad, but I am doing better... and I have been SERIOUSLY considering switching to a Psych major because of it.

Well, you've already taken the first big step by realizing you have problems, and admitting it- now you're staking steps to solve it. That counts for a lot in a world where most people just revert to playing the victim, or blaming their issues for everything; instead of really trying to improve themselves. With that sort of initiative and drive, you'd make a great psychologist.
Well, I will admit that I still do tend to blame my problems on everything BUT me in the heat of the moment, but I usually realize how stupid I was and I try to make amends.
That little problem is my biggest concern about myself right now. ._.;;
But, yeah, when/if I get a real grip of myself, I'd actually like to help other people with this sort of thing. Though I'd really like to work as an on-campus therapist for a college. X3

for that you'll probably need a doctorate. That's what I'm trying to get.
As far as your problems go, it's no cakewalk to really stop- it may take a long time, but if you think hard about the sort of situations that put you in the position where you react irrationally, you'll have a better time handling them.

Yes. I've only lost one fight in my life. It was a friendly fist fight with one of my friends. I keep myself well armed these days. I'm rather used to people taking a shot at cracking my skull open with whatever is lying around. There was also the time that one guy tried to gay rape me. I put a pen half way through his leg.
