The dog is a running gag character. The neighborhood stray, evaded being caught by the catcher for years and just keeps on in the usual spot they drink at. But the gag is this, the dog is a lot smarter than they think he is. and will be featured as like some sort of mascot for the series. Just a very intelligent and skilled stray neighborhood dog that may understand what is more important to do in ones life.
