"The smallest and shortest-lived of the species that call the regions around the MarrowScar home, the Heliocyx are a race of mostly-terrestrial bird people. They live in the northern desert and scrubland of the continent, making their homes high up the cliffs and spires of stone that can be found in the inhospitable region.

"Heliocyx" in Common translates to "Sun-born", as they believe themselves to be the descendants of the Burning Eye, their sun-god, who is a firebird so massive that her whole form cannot be viewed at once. The Heliocyx seek to impress their ever- watchful deity via shows of grandeur, feats of construction, and gladiatorial combat.

Incapable of flight, the Heliocyx are nevertheless drawn towards the sky. They use personal gliders to travel around their cities, and to glide as far as they can on long journies. Though they're birds, they are incredibly fast and agile on foot, and are very in-demand couriers for mail and small parcels."
