In the 80's there was Showbiz Pizza Place & Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza Time Theatre. Showbiz had the Rock-afire Explosion (seen here) and Pizza Time Theatre had Munch Make Believe Band (the CEC characters). Eventually they merged and dropped the Rock-afire and Showbiz name altogether since Chuck E. Cheese was more known. Some Rock-afire stages were even stripped of fur/clothes/etc and turned into CEC characters.

Oooh, so CEC was basically based off Showbiz, but for some reason CEC was much more popular...so they stripped and now CEC is king? were they owned by the same people or?

CEC & Showbiz were two separate places. Rivals back in the 80's. When CEC went under Showbiz bought them out and ran both restaurants. They then decided to just keep one restaurant (CEC, being much more well known as Showbiz was more in the South & whatnot), so they dropped the Showbiz name & characters completely. :)

Someone bought an old Showbiz pizza and turned it into "billybobs pizza" here in Huntington WV where I live. The stage is still up and running and the characters still work. I didn't know if you knew that or not. However, I cant remember if they kept all the character names the same.

I did know that! :) The show used to be in horrible shape a few years ago.
