In Ocean Zone a mental challenge lies between Chi Chi and the time crystal she wants to win.
She has a key and must match 2 flags on the key with a grid reference, on the wall is a list with flags, one which represents letter's and another representing number's.
Once the drawer is open a key with another 2 flags, Chi Chi must open 6 drawers, the crystal is located inside the 6th drawer and she's got 2:00 minutes to do it.

When I watched Crystal Maze, it was back in 2020 on Nickelodeon, and it was VASTLY different than what you saw it as. The host was Adam Conover, zones were Industrial, Futuristic, Aztec, and Eastern. There were three types of challenges (as far as I remember): Timed, Life, and ALIS. Timed is pretty much similar to what this art represents, Life is where you have a certain number of lives, and ALIS is short for "Automatic Lock-In Situation". If you fail the condition for any of these rooms (Timed if you run out of time, Life if you run out of lives, and ALIS if you fall into the smoke floor), you are locked in the room. But, even if you complete the task for the room, you still have to escape with the crystal before time runs out. To get back into the game, you have to use a crystal, and after the first round, the Mega Crystal was available, and it could be used only once, but if your team has it when you enter the Dome, that's worth DOUBLE the amount of a regular crystal (which is 5 seconds worth of time in the Dome). Now, if you're running out of time, and don't think you can get the crystal in time, you can request to get out of the room before you're locked in, at the cost of missing out on the crystal.
The challenges in the Futuristic Zone were, for the most part, based on either the galaxy or the actual future.
The challenges in the Aztec Zone were all based around, well, the Aztec times.
The Eastern Zone is themed around Chinese culture (at least, I thought it was).
The Industrial Zone takes place in a factory-like setting.
That's all I can remember about my viewing of The Crystal Maze.

Soo in the UK, The Crystal Maze originally broadcast in Feb 1990 and did well with 6 series including multple X-mas specials.
Firstly hosted by Rchard O'Brien (Rocky Horror Picture Show and Flash Gordon)
but he left after Series 4.
Ed Tudor Pole took over The Crystal Maze and the show did just as great Ed (who played Mr Borgin from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets) (though the scene was deleted from the film but can be found online.)
The show was number 1 on Channel 4 by viewers, the show getting between 4 & 6 million viewers respectively (this was at a time where most families had just 4 channels on their TV.)
The zones were Aztec, Futuristic, Medieval and Industrial although Industrial was replaced by Ocean Zone on board the S.S. Atlantis.
The categories to choose from were mental, physical, skill or mystery.
Automatic Lock-in's were a thing too by either touch the walls or floors 3 times. There was another lock-in in Aztec zone where if you opened the wrong shrine you were locked in.
A time crystal would have to be sacrificed in order to get the person out.
After the 6th series of the Crystal Maze the show ended, however in 2016 it was brought back originally as a one off for "Stand Up to Cancer" a charity show presented by Stephen Merchant (The Ricky Gervais Show).
In 2017 Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd, The Bad Guys) presented the show until 2020 during this time Medieval Zone was replaced by Eastern Zone.
Channel 4 gave Nickelodeon U.S. the green light to have an American version of the show and actually flew American families to the UK for filming as they didn't have anywhere to film the show stateside.
Nickelodeon UK does not show "The Crystal Maze" instead it shows classic repeats of Spongebob, iCarly, Victorious, Thundermans, House of Anubis, Sam and Cat etc.
