I once kind of came up with a general rule of thumb for writing male/male fanfics: Find a badfic, and don't do that. I've never really tested it, though.

I dunno if I ever told you this, but I once came up with the idea for a fanfic set post KH2 where Riku realizes he actually IS in love with Sora… except Sora and Kairi are a couple now, and Riku realizes that Sora sees him as a best friend, not boyfriend material. So Riku has his "I want my beloved to be happy" moment and decides to support them as a couple because they're still his friends and he realizes that Sora cannot return his affections the way he wants him too. I was gonna call it "Broken Heart" or something suitably angsty, and surprise surprise it was gonna hold to canon pretty tightly. Aside from the whole Riku is actually gay thing.

It sounds adorable to me, and the fact that it would make all the annoying fangirls weep from the idea of Sora being with Kairi* makes it all that much better.

*I still don't understand why people hate this pairing so passionately. Maybe it's because I didn't have internets around the time when I started obsessing over games like the younger girlies do now, so I was not corrupted by non-canon shounen-ai pairings yet, and so I accepted canon as I saw it, which was usually quite obviously "male main character" + "main female character".

Nowadays, if you mention a straight, seemingly canon pairing, people react to it like satan to holy water.

I've had people tell me left and right that Kairi x Sora is just as non-canon as Sora x Riku, and I accept it when people say these kinds of things, because I ALWAYS assume that the person speaking to me on the internet is more in-the-know than I am. Because I am a moron.

But fffff.
I realize it's not like Sora and Kairi got married or anything, but still. I think it's implied pretty effing strongly.
Moreso than Riku/Sora.

I didn't even have a shounen-ai non-canon pairing plant itself in my imagination until KH2, and it wasn't even AkuRoku, which I COMPLETELY OVERLOOKED, btw.

SO THINK ABOUT WHAT I'VE JUST SAID.
I am a female, and I DID at the time like shounen-ai shows like Gravitation.
But the entire time playing KH1
Sora/Riku NEVER EVEN OCCURRED TO ME.

So maybe I'm freaking broken or something. xD
But I just can't understand the reaction most fangirls have to the idea of Sora/Kairi.
When they hugged in game 2, it must have scorched their eyeballs with its evil cuteness.

Or maybe they magically skipped that scene.

No, their brains blocked it out. As for reasons, I dunno. Maybe it's the thought of two hot teenaged boys making out that excites some people. Or they're just ignoring canon. Strictly speaking, Sora/Kairi isn't canon, but there are more than enough hints to suggest that they like each other: see the paopu scene in KH1, or him willingly sacrificing his heart for her, or even dreaming about dancing with her… there's a lot. And I'll admit, I'm okay with non-canon couples and such, but when it comes to disrupting canon, there's really only one canon couple I dislike, and that's Nanoha and Fate from the Nanoha series. There are… well, several reasons for that.

To be fair, the scene where Sora cries when he finally finds Riku again is pretty… weird, but I can even justify that. You see, this entire time, Sora's been trying to reunite with Riku AND Kairi. Kairi, as far as he knew, was safe on the Destiny Islands, but Riku was missing. So, Sora's trying to find Riku and not worrying too much about Kairi, because as soon as he finds him they'll all be back together. Then Kairi gets kidnapped, and we see Sora BEGGING Saix not to hurt her. That's also the point where he starts to find evidence of Riku, so now he's got flip-flopping emotions for Riku's safety/danger and Kairi's safety/danger. Skip to The Castle That Never Was, where he knows Kairi is, and then he finally finds her. He's been thinking about her this whole game, and now he's got her in his arms and she's totally safe. And then out of nowhere, he learns that Riku's back too. Both of his greatest fears are now disproven, and all of his friends are back together and more or less safe. Of course he's going to be overwhelmed by his emotions and start crying.

Oh wait, did I tell you all of this once?

Wait, Axel and Sora? 8| They share all of ONE scene together. Though I guess that's more evidence than quite a few pairings have.

I don't know if we talked about that before, but THAT WAS MY THEORY ON THE WHOLE "BAWL FOR RIKU" SCENE, TOO.

Yes, but the scene where Sora imagines him and Kairi holding hands and skipping in a circle is very… not ho yay. I mean, the only person he ever fantasizes about (in a Disney G-rated way) is Kairi.

Srsly, and it kinda dashes all hopes of there being any shipping between Axel and Roxas since Xion kinda makes the third wheel and ruins it in a way. And the idea of Axel being overly protective just makes it all together just, "...When did this go BEYOND a simple story line to, "MINE! ALL MINE! HURT THEM AND I HURT YOU WITH SOMETHING HARD AND SANDPAPERY! *hiss*"

Well, remember, as of the end of 358/2 Days, nobody remembers that Xion ever existed, so, the third wheel was retgoned. Poor girl… boy… thing. And as for Axel… ho boy. Abusive possessive relationship ahead ahoy! Though, to be fair, the whole three-way friendship reveals the limits of Nobodies: all three of them only think of what they gain from the other two, and don't ever really think about the other two possibly gaining anything from the relationship. It's a bit disturbing.

Notice how the most recent games (358/2 Days, Coded, and Birth by Sleep) all not only tie in with each other, they also answer hanging plot threads from the previous games (where does Castle Oblivion come from, what was Roxas up to for that one year, what was on that note in KH2, and how does Xigbar know about other keyblade wielders?) and set up elements for future games. Nomura apparently has the next few games all planned out to wrap up the Xehanort Chronicles.

Well, Birth By Sleep pretty much answers every question about his origins, why he has amnesia, why he's so interested in Kingdom Hearts and darkness, and why Xemnas was talking to a suit of armor in Kingdom Hearts II final mix.

Magical air fresheners. And general magic, really. Or possibly the Keyblade did it. Though, really, if you're going to be wearing armor as a part of your uniform and you have magic available to you, I think you'd design the armor right. And the Judges are certainly bulky enough to have magitech air conditioners in their armor. And Samus, well, that's super-tech, it'd have to have environmental controls simply for comfort.

Really, I'm wondering if that armor is "real" and stored in a pocket dimension or if it's made from magic every time they summon it? It's fairly rugged and solid stuff (see the Lingering Sentiment still hanging around after 11-12 years and only losing his keychain and growing a cape in all that time :p), and I think I'd go with the real armor that's stored elsewhere over the pure magic angle.
