One of the trickiest parts of coping with a long-term Pokemon transformation is the loss of human speech, but have no fear! I'm here with a small guide, painstakingly put together from first-hand experience (and a copious amount of vending machine Lemonade). Here's the ways you can still communicate with humans even after turning into a Pokémon!
Just, don't mind the current ending. I might have gotten slightly interrupted...

It's another piece from the Pichu trainer story/continuity for TFTuesday-- I think I might have accidentally fallen in love with the concept ^^;

That's revisionist history. The popularity of TR Meowth led them to making the species officially 'bipedal', rather than the 'can sit up' they initially had. It's a peeve of mine mostly because learning to talk and walk upright was a major part of TR Meowth's backstory and they just went and undid half of the trial he went through. Still, bipedal doesn't automatically come with thumbs.
If anything, meowth's initial quadrupedal nature seems more like revisionist history to me. The episode where his backstory is shown came over a year and a half after his debut, and over two and a half years after red/green. Meowth has been depicted as almost exclusively bipedal both before and since, with the only other exception I could find being the walk sprite in heartgold/soulsilver.
also, said "brooklyn" meowth does not posses any thumbs. he merely uses one of his three existing digits like one when necessary

Last response from me (so not to flood Criz's comments)
Meowths shown in episode 70, as well as the wild meowth episode 55, as well as the clone in the pokemon movie, are quadrupedal. The sprites in the original Red and Blue are also quadrupedal, sitting on their haunches in the maneki-neko pose, which is the inspiration. Yellow went bipedal, since it's drawing more from the anime story, and the games kept going with it since. Sun and Moon kinda back tracked a bit with Alolan meowth, showing them both bipedal and quadrupedal in Nanu's station.
As for thumbs, honestly it depends on the animator. Some episodes they give meowths thumbs, others they don't.

(I should also stop here I suppose)
some of the pokemon sprites in generation 1 (such as meowth's) were updated in pokemon blue, and were the sprites used in the localized versions of the game.
in the original red and green, meowth has both paws raised off the ground

Maybe it's because there are only five or six humans I talk to ever, but I generally have found it's easier to teach a human to understand Poke-speak.
The easiest way is to recruit a psychic Pokemon to induce hypnosis. But it's apparently something that a human can pick up for him/herself through prolonged exposure.
Although I'm just now realizing neither of these really help your current situation. . . Though, in fairness, "put me down!" is a statement that should really auto-translate universally.

Gosh, if humans could learn pokespeak quickly, then that would make things so much easier!
And recruiting a psychic to speak on one's behalf would be useful.
And you'd think that would translate, but people seem to just get tunnel vision when they see a small furry thing >w<

To me, another good way to get used to shapeshifting/transforming yourself is to always to leave yourself with a couple of forms you're comfortable with~
This will allow to not have to re-learn phonics so often haha
But seriously, I really like this~ It's entertaining but yet informative in a way. Also, can relate to drinking and writing xD
