The Creydan Jaeger organization deals with all criminal matters involving werewolves. They are a special power organization independent of the Creydan police and army. Werewolves are, at first glance, inhabitants like any other, only possessing a close connection to the "magic" of this world. They can cover themselves in magic and dissolve in it, transforming into their second form. The laws of Creydan are not very favorable to werewolves, and they are subject to many discriminatory restrictions, such as the ban on appearing in public in a transformed form, the ban on working in law enforcement (in the jaegers' service in particular), and the requirement for a special mark in the passport. Those citizens who have good instincts for magic but are not werewolves, most often go to work for jaegers, where their skills are highly valued.
There are several ways to get a job in a jaegers' department. The first is to attend a specialized cadet school. The schools have two groups of training: the younger one, which takes students from 8 years old and is called "Creydan Falcons", and the older one, which takes students from 15 years old. The training lasts several years, and at the end of it cadets take exams and receive recommendations from their teachers and direct superiors (just like Ferkes!).
The second way is to have higher education and pass the entrance exams. Such jaegers almost always get a non-dusty office job, but they do not have much career ladder either.
After a certain number of years the employee has the right to apply and pass an exam for promotion to a higher rank. In this case, the commission considers all his existing merits, and a verdict is given. There are also exceptions, such as Ferkes and Rowan, who quickly rose to captain and major respectively, with great merit and a long list of recommendations because they were actively involved in field operations and tours of duty.
At the head of the metropolitan department is the chief in charge of all the majors. The majors are at the head of the bureaus, with several captains in various positions under their command. The captains supervise the lieutenants, and a lieutenant may have as many as 50 men under his command. Not all jaeger departments are large enough, so in remote regions even a captain may be appointed head of a department.
Among the bureaus of the Metropolitan Department there are several operational bureaus, medical service, canine service, horse service (engaged in the care and training of horses), supply bureau, investigative bureau, office, accounting bureau, and archives. In addition to jaegers, there are also a large number of civilian employees.
