Chapter 17b: Encounter of a Lifetime Part 2!
(Meanwhile, in the southeastern part of the forest...)
"Hurry!" Ping called out as she, her sister, the Agrabah twins and Luciana raced into the forest. "What about the others!?" Luciana called out, worried about her brother. "Don't worry, I'm sure they'll be alright!" Ping answered, leading the group with her lantern. "They'll meet us back in the village!"
"Why are we running away!?" Azad exclaimed. "We can take them on, no problem!" "Yeah!" Malak added. "We can beat those bandits!" "We need to form a plan before we can fight them!" Ping argued. "Plus, we're outnumbered!"
"Please...Jie-Jie..." Jin panted. "Can we...stop...for a... second?" The others noticed that Jin was getting exhausted, her breathing getting labored, and she was placing a hand to her chest. "Sorry, Jin." Malak assured her as they slowed down. "I forgot you're not used to such exercise."
"Maybe we can find a place to rest." Malak looked around as she noticed the bandits were not following them. "There!" She exclaimed, pointed to a large clearing with a large oak tree in the center. As they sat down under the shade, Ping laid the lantern close to her and patted her sister's back. "Are you alright?" She asked, worriedly.
"Yeah..." Jin breathed, before smiling tiredly. "I never...had...this much.... excitement...before." Azad grinned. "Well, this is nothing." He added. "Back in Agrabah, Malak and I would all sorts of amazing adventures together with our parents."
"Yep!" Malak added, with a grin of her own. "Sometimes, we would sneak out from our lessons and head off into the marketplace." "We would leap through the roof-tops as swift as hawks and agile as cats." She giggled. "Or we would run through the streets, faster than stallions!"
"I would like to visit Agrabah sometime." Luciana added, smiling. "Me and Garrick have already explored most of Corona and we hope to explore outside Corona itself, someday." Jin sighed. "You are all really lucky," She explained sadly. "There were times where I wish I was as brave or strong as any of you."
"Back home, some of the kids make fun of me for being too weak and girly." She added. "Since my mom is the savior of China, they figured that I would be a skilled warrior just like her and Ping." She lowered her head. "I guess I'm not what they expected to be."
"That's not true, Mei-Mei." Ping assured her. "You are kind, gentle and you always brought a smile to everyone's face." She added. "The fact that you came out here proves that you are braver than you think."
"Oh, how sweet..." A sickly voice spoke up, causing them to jump up in shock. "I hate sweet things..." Suddenly, 6 hooded bandits leapt down from the tree and in front of them. "Surprise!!!" Jin screamed while the other kids jumped to their feet. "How did you find us!?" Azad demanded.
The lead bandit pulled back his hood, revealing a thin scar running down from his forehead to his chin, passing over his left eye and ending on the left side of his chin. He grinned wickedly and his tongue lolled out like a dog. "Isn't it oblivious, little man?!" He snickered. "We know every inch of this forest, travelling through it seems like child's play!" "You can't hid from Mad Jack!" He added, grinning madly
"Now then, children." He added, approaching towards. "Come along, and we won't get rough on you." "Oh really?" Ping asked, before getting into a fighting stance. "I think you're going to have to ask that again..." She smirked.
"And us as well!" Malak added, she and her brother getting ready for a fight as well. "Luciana, make sure Jin is safe!" Ping told the latter, who nodded and backed away with Jin hiding behind her in worry. "Alright, then!" Mad Jack grinned madly. "Looks like we got ourselves some fighters; get them!!"
Within seconds, the bandits charged at them and the kids sprang into action! They were going to show these horrible men that they weren't going down without a fight! Ping was as fierce as a tigress and as graceful as a crane. One bandit threw a few punches at her, but she dodged them. She smirked and delivered a round-house kick to his face, knocking a few of his teeth out.
Azad and Malak were flowing through the bandits like the desert sands themselves. Another bandit ran up to the Arabian prince, brandishing a short sword. He slashed at him wildly, only for Azad to dodge them with ease. "What's the matter?" He taunted. "Can't even hit a simple twig like me?"
Enraged, the bandit charged at him, his sword raised high. Azad just smirked and waited until the bandit tried a stab strike. He leapt up onto the flat side of the blade, much to the bandit's shock. In a flash, he delivered a flash kick-like blow to the bandit's chin, knocking him out cold.
Meanwhile, Malak was having difficulties of her own, but like her brother, she could handle herself in a tussle. Two bandits had cornered her, both wearing armored gauntlets. One wore gauntlets with three long blades on the knuckles, purple poison coming out from thin grooves from the blades. The other wore gauntlets with shorter blades, but when Malak looked closer, she could see nearly invisible strings at the ends of the blades to shoot them out.
"Nowhere to run, princess." One bandit leered at her. "You and your brother are worth your way in gold to last us for years!" Malak smirked as she evaded their lunging strikes. "What's the matter?" She taunted. "Is one little girl too much for you?" "You two would be better off fighting a toddler."
This infuriated the thugs and both men charged at once, one in front and the other at the back. The bandit on the front hoped to deliver a blow to paralyze the Arabian princess with his poisoned blades. The girl remained still, waiting for him to strike. Just as he lunged forward, Malak spun around and used his own against him!
The thug pulled back at the last moment, not before nicking his stunned partner who was behind the girl; under his left armpit. Instantly, he and his friend collapsed to the ground, completely stunned. Seeing her chance, Malak took the right arm of the smaller gauntlet and pushed the release button.
To her surprise, three small arrows fired onto a nearby boulder and embedded into it good. Smirking, she looked down at the two groaning bandits and replied. "Hope you have a nice flight!" She pushed the button again and the two fighters were reeling in fast!! Screaming in terror, they slammed into the rock hard. Malak giggled a little when she saw the bandits mumbling nonsense with stars swirling around their heads.
Meanwhile, Ping was facing up against Mad Jack, the scarred face bandit, who was licked his dagger with sick delight. "You fight well," he spoke, twirling his dagger. "for a girl." "Never underestimate your opponent." Ping warned him. "I fought worse bandits than you." "Really," The mad man replied. "I'll be sure to remember that when I drag you back to Shadow-sneak!!"
With that, they charged at each other. Mad Jack lashed out with his knife; his reflexes and blade skills were so swift like it almost looked like he was dancing. Ping did her best to parry and dodge, but the blade had cut through some of her clothes and nicked her arms a bit.
"What's the matter, little girl?!" Mad Jack taunted as he slashed at her. "Too scared to fight back!?" Ping narrowed her eyes. "How's this for scared?!" She shot back as she delivered a high kick to his chin and grabbed hold of the wrist. Before Jack knew it, he was flung over her shoulder and thrown on the ground.
In a flash, he was up on his feet again. "Not bad, girl..." He muttered, wiping the blood. "You could make an excellent member of the Red Devils." Ping glared back. "I will never join the likes of you!!" She shot angrily. "Oh, really?" Jack smirked. "I think you might want to rethink that..."
Ping frowned and before she could retort, a high-pitched scream called out. The three royal heirs turned and to their horror, saw Jin and Luciana being restrained by two bandits who were holding daggers to their throats. "Mei-Mei!!" Ping called out in fear.
"I'm sorry!" Luciana called out, worriedly. "While you were busy fighting, they took us by surprise!" "I tried to protect Jin, but-" She added. "It's alright, Luciana!" Ping replied. "Hang on, I'm- WHOA!!" She was cut of short when she was suddenly bound by thick ropes of a bola, courtesy of Mad Jack!!
"Ping!!" Azad cried out before he and Malak were tangled up in bolas, thrown by the other bandits. "Jie-Jie!!" Jin screamed, only to flinch in terror when the bandit pushed his dagger close to her throat. The three heirs struggled as best as they could, but it was no use. "I can't break free!!" Malak cried out, struggling desperately.
"It's no use, kiddies." Mad Jack smirked as he and the other bandits watched the kids fight desperately. "These bolas are made of the strongest ropes, not even Tight-fist himself can break them." "You won't be laughing when we get out of here!!" Azad yelled back as he struggled.
"Oh really, little man?" Mad Jack taunted. "I think you are in no position to argue." "Please, let them go!!" Jin pleaded. The scarred bandit turned to her, making her freeze in terror. "Sorry, little girl." He replied. "I'm afraid you are all much too valuable to let go." "But," he added, picking up his dagger. "that doesn't mean we get to have some fun."
A wide, menacing grin spread over his face which made the kids shiver. Soon, he was approaching towards Jin. "I bet a pretty face like you will be worth a ton of gold for the slave trade..." The children, particularly Jin felt their eyes widen in fear.
"Leave my sister alone!!" Ping screamed, struggled hard in her bonds. Mad Jack grinned wider and grabbed Jin's chin, pulling her close so he could look at her terrified face. "Tsk, tsk..." He taunted, slowly raising his dagger so close that it was inches from her face. "It would be a shame if anything were to happen to your lovely face."
The rest of the bandits forced the children to kneeling positions and made them watch as Mad Jack trailed the very tip of his blade on Jin's cheek, not enough to pierce the skin but stung like a bee's sting. "I'm sure Shadow-sneak would enjoy having a slave like you around..."
The other children could only watch in fear, particularly Ping. "N-n-no, please..." Jin whimpered; the thought of being a slave to such a horrible man and never seeing her family again terrified her to the bone. "Please...someone...help...me" she added, tears welling in her eyes.
"Sorry, girl." Mad Jack snickered evilly. "No one is coming to help you and your friends." "Say goodbye because you'll never taste freedom ever again!!" He and the bandits laughed loudly, while the children had looks of fear on their faces. It seemed like it would be the end when...
"GGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
A loud bellow resounded through the forest, causing everyone to freeze and fall silent. Then, the sound of heavy footsteps followed, making the ground shake and it was growing louder. "What was that?!" Mad Jack exclaimed.
*CRASH!!!*
His answer came when an enormous creature burst through the clearing. It looked like a huge bull that was the size of an elephant but with large moose-like antlers on the sides of its head. Its whole body had a blue armor-like coat leaving only its four huge hooves. Two tusks jutted out from its upper jaw and glowing blue crystals were poised on its antler-tips. Charger had arrived!
"What the heck is that creature!?" One of the bandits yelled in shock. The children watched with wide eyes; they had never seen such a magnificent and powerful creature. "By Allah," Malak breathed in awe. "What is that?!"
"GGGGGGGGRRRRRRROOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH!!!!" Charger bellowed once again, lowered its head and charged!! "Holy...!!" Mad Jack screamed. "Scatter!!" Immediately, the bandits ran off in different directions while the creature stopped right of the children.
The Bull-Elk snorted through his large nostrils. "Cowards!" It bellowed. "You dare attack children; no true warrior harms a child!" The children listened in amazement. "You can talk!?" Luciana asked. Charger looked down at the children and smiled. "Of course, little ones." He replied. "I also brought some of my brothers to help!"
"SSSSSSCCCCCCCCRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAWWWWWWWKKKKKKK!!!!!!" At that moment, a large bird swooped down from the sky and snatched one bandit up in the air! It was a large blue falcon, with blue feathers and two large bat-like wings shaped like a butterfly. It had a large cross-shaped mark on its chest and two yellow feet with sharp talons. It had a large hooked shaped beak with yellow crystals on the side of its body. "Someone call for a hand or feet?" It called out.
"Sky-Fall!" Clubber replied. "You arrived just in time!" "Put me down!!" The bandit screamed, flailing about in Sky-Fall's grip. "Put me down, ya oversized chicken!!" This enraged the Falcon. "CHICKEN?!" He screeched before tossing him over to the large Oaktree! The poor bandit screamed as he fell through the branches and landed on the ground with a loud thud!
The children stared in amazement. "Who or what are they?" Luciana added, too shocked to say anything else. "I don't know..." Azad added
"Don't just stand there!" Mad Jack screamed to the other. "Kill those beasts!!" The other bandits brandished their weapons and charged. However, another sound called out. "GGGGRRRRRAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!" Suddenly, two large shapes sprang out of the forest and pounced on the bandits!
One was an enormous saber-tooth tiger with blue fur and white crystals on its back, legs and even its tail. Its claws were white as well, with two long white upper fangs in his jaws. Its eyes glowed as its large paw pinned the terrified bandit to the ground. "I don't think you'll be going anywhere..." The Tiger growled. It was no other than Long-Fang!
The other bandit was having trouble on his own; he was trapped in the coils on a gigantic serpent. Its coils had glowing blue circles on its back and a black scaled underbelly with glowing markings running along its sides. What was stranger was the eight limbs on its sides like a spider which acted like arms. It had three heads, one head had two black horns, the second had a crystallic horn on top and the middle head had a hood like a cobra with glowing markings on the sides. Glow-Blade hissed as the hooded man looked at him in terror.
"What's-s-s-s the matter, little man?" The middle head hissed as it neared closed to the bandit, before it lowered two of its spider limbs close to his throat. "Not s-s-so fun to be on the other end of the s-s-stick, is-s-sin't it?" "Unless-s-s-s of cours-se it would be much kinder for me to s-s-swallow you right now, will it?" He added, his three heads opening their mouths wide, exposing their fangs and long flickering tongues.
"Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!" The bandit screamed in terror, before foaming in the mouth and passing out. As for Long-Fang, he seized the bandit with his teeth and shook him around like a rag doll before tossing him aside against a large boulder.
"Boss, we have to retreat!!" One bandit screamed. "What?!" Mad Jack yelled. "We have the royal children in our grasp!" "Boss!" Another bandit argued. "Watch out!" Mad Jack barely had time to turn when Charger swung his head at him and one of his huge antlers slammed into the scarred bandit!
The man was sent flying through air, screaming as he crashed right into a tree. The remaining bandits just stared in horror when the Bull-Elk turned to them, snorting and pawing the ground with his hoof. "We surrender!!!" They screeched, before turning and hightailed it out of there.
"Cowards..." Charger muttered, shaking his head in disgust before turning to his others. Luciana and Jin were trying to free their friends, but it was proving to difficult. "These ropes are too thick!!" Luciana muttered as she tried to untie the knots. "I can't get a firm grip on them!"
"It's no good!!" Jin added in frustrated before flinching in pain. Her hands were getting red from rubbing against the rough twine of the ropes. "Perhaps, we can help, little sisters." Long-Fang spoke up as he and Glow-Blade approached them.
Ping, Azad and Malak froze and remained still as the Tiger and the Hydra were now upon them. Glow-Blade lowered his three heads and hissed softly. "Don't be afraid, little ones-s-s." He assured. "We will free you from your bond-s-s."
Gently, Long-Fang pinched two of his white claws and ripped off the ropes restraining Ping as if there were made of paper while Glow-Blade used two of his spider limbs to tear through Azad and Malak's bonds. Soon, the ropes fell to pieces and the three friends jumped to their feet.
"Jie-Jie!" Jin exclaimed, running up to her twin sister and hugging her tightly, sobbing onto her shoulder. "Mei-Mei, it's okay." Ping assured her as she wrapped her arms around her. "I'm fine, so are Azad and Malak."
"Are you alright?" Luciana asked. "Yeah, we're alright." Azad replied, as he stretched his arms. "Just a little shaken and bruised but fine." "We would have been worse off if it hadn't been for our saviors." Malak added, smiling.
Sky-Fall landed next to Long-Fang while Chargerr lumbered up to join them. "I'm glad you children are safe," The Bull-Elk spoke up, with a kind smile. "we were fortunate to come as soon as we could."
Luciana went up to Charger and stared up at him in amazement. "Thank you for saving us, good sir." She replied, curtising to the Bull-Elk. "We would all be slaves by now if you had arrived." "Such kind manners," Clubber chuckled. "for one so young."
Luciana blushed in embarrassment. "Well, what kind of creatures are you?" she asked. "I read about all sorts of animals, but I've heard nothing like you." Ping stepped forward, a look of awe on her face. "Ma-Ma and Ba-Ba told me stories about guardian spirits who watch over us." She spoke up. "Are you guardian spirits?"
The Monsuno laughed. "Oh no, little sister." Long-Fang replied. "We are living creatures of flesh and blood as you are." "Tell me, young ones." The Tiger asked. "What bring you out in the forest this late?"
"Well, sir." Azad explained, not at all afraid of the large creatures. "We saw stars fell from the sky and land into the forest so we went to investigate." "Unfortunately, we were attacked by bandits and we got separated." "We know, little brother." Sky-Fall replied. "We are the stars that fell from the heavens."
The children's eyes widened in shock. "You're the falling stars?!" Malak asked. The Falcon nodded. "We hid in the forest to avoid being seen and we saw you arrive." He replied. "We saw how bravely you and your friends stood up to the bandits." "You may be cubs," He added proudly. "but you have the hearts of eagles and lions."
The children blushed a little. Suddenly, a loud whinny of a horse caught their attention. Sky-Fall flew up into the air and looked up in the distance. Within seconds, he flew back to the others. "It's Quick-Force!!" He called out. "He's calling for our help!"
Charger nodded and turned to the children. "It seems the rest of our tribe has found some of your friends." The heirs gasped in shock. "Please, is my brother with them?!" Luciana asked in worry. "I can't say for certain," Sky-Fall replied. "but it appears to be two boys and a girl, one with auburn hair."
"That's Mainard!!" Azad cried. "We have to help them!" "No, little ones-s-s." Glow-Blade added, shaking his three heads. "It's-s-s far too dangerous-s-s." "There're our friends!" Malak exclaimed. "We're not going to leave them!" "I agree!" Luciana added. "My brother is still out there, and I'm not leaving him!"
"No way, I'm letting my sister go in alone!" Azad spoke up. "I'm coming with you!" "Normally, I would want us to head back to the village," Ping added, bravely. "but if there's one thing my Ma-Ma taught me, it's to never leave a friend behind." Jin continued. "I want to help my friends too; if my Jie-Jie's going, then I'm going too!"
The Monsuno were amazed to hear the children like that. "Well, brother Charger," Long-Fang asked. "What says you?" Clubber was silent for a moment, before he smiled proudly. "Well, young ones!" He proclaimed as he bent his great head low. "Climb on, you can ride on my antlers."
The royal children smiled in excitement and hurried over; climbing onto the Bull-Elk's antlers. "I'll lead the way!" Sky-Fall called up, flapping his wings. "Follow me as best as you can!" With that, the Falcon took off into the air, with Long-Fang and Glow-Blade following him.
"Alright, children!" Charger called out. "Hang on tight!" With that, he lumbered off and the kids cried out in excitement as they clung onto Charger's antler tips. "THIS IS AMAZING!!!" Azad screamed in joy as they took off to help their friends!
