Plains Jawagora | 'Rabbit/Hare' Alien | Doodle/Sketch

It is my pleasure to present to all of you, the first part of a project that's been close to my heart for a while: Kaleida!
This is a sketch of a plains jawagora. Jawagora are anywhere between insectivorous and herbivorous depending on the species. They live out their lives on the banks of rivers, estuaries, and deltas where they can find Kaleida's equivalents of termites and shrimps to eat. While they are quite well-adapted to land, they retain gills which help them to breathe when hiding underwater to evade predators.
The plains jawagora's front fins are in the process of evolving away as they generally use only their legs to get around. Their upper fins aid in steering when running at speed. They have approximately 20 babies per clutch, which imprint on their mother and follow her around until they grow old enough to forage on their own and become vigilant at watching for predators.

Planned ret-cons: I want to firm up the plains jawagora's colours. It has the potential for a wide range of colours, but I don't yet know what colours the plants in its native location are. When I know that I'll decide.
What is Kaleida?
Kaleida is a worldbuilding project without a storyline or individual characters. Most of my clients come to me with stories and characters and treat worldbuilding as an after-thought, so I'm doing the opposite and focusing solely on my worldbuilding. This species is a result of my research on how to create an alien ecosystem, which I wrote as a blog series. Read it here.
