Jak is the latest in a long line of babysitterse to look after Calex for the night. When asking questions Jak learned apparently the previous sitters were 'fluffed up' and becomes quite curious as to what that means.

Huh. This actually makes him look pretty bad. Odin too, really. If none of his babysitters are in any shape to look after him anymore it means none of them have turned back, and since they didn't know what it entailed before like Jak then Calex is basically collecting victims and Odin is allowing him to do it.
It's been touched on a bit in other stories that effects created by Calex are pretty benign and don't last unless the person wants them too, and we've had Odin changing people back or to forms they prefer in other stories. Most of Calex's friends just enjoy being younger, and would rather be his playmate than his sitter. Most people with a few notable exceptions who wanted to give up their original form eventually go back to normal, but them being responsible and changing back to normal make for less fun scenes that people would rather not use their word count on, and just have it happen off screen between stories.
At the end of the story, Jak is still having fun in his current form, so he's not going to snap back soon, which is why he might not be hired for a bit. This being his first time doing the job, he does lack contexts for how he'll eventually snap back to normal, but having had previous experience with some transformations knows he always gets back to normal eventually. In fact, another story (written by Lockely) actually has him as a returning sitter. Though he winds up a mouse over the course of that one, but by then would have the context to know how long it would last.
