Blender, Zbrush, CSP, probably around 40 hours.....ish, yes frogé. Here is the original render before I painted it up: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme.....38/unknown.png I was able to afford the time to paint this thanks to generous donations on Patreon (and occasional shinies or Ko-fi). Thanks guys. ♥ ♥ ♥
During the Blizzard of 95, when I was around twelve years old, we got something like four feet of snow all in one big storm over the course of a week. My older sister was away at college, my younger sister was away living elsewhere, my parents both had essential jobs which kept them away most of the time; my stepfather had to shack up in a hotel and I saw nary a hair of him during the whole affair. So I had the house almost entirely to myself for a straight week. It was the best week of my life.
Snow always takes me back there, sitting on the couch beside the fire, all bundled up in my blanket, warm mug with an extra packet of cocoa mix in my hands, watching Disney movies all day- The Lion King and The Fox and the Hound were my favorites. Sometimes I wish I could go back there. My life was, even if only for that singular moment in time, so wonderfully uncomplicated.

did, too. :)
very chill and frosty, love the atmosphere and the foggy air. and the snow-clumped furs. and good thing you showed the feline in the BG separately, would have been a pity not to.
here the shadowy figure fits right in, but everything would have been drowned out... after all that render and detail work. :P
interesting cart. whom did it belong to, what happened to them? (and who brought the lantern, the canines don't look like they could carry it...)

. . . . .not that i hadn't been already regardless, these other times bobbie-jean
you did almost emerge victorious again, though
let me get my shower in; something fatty (yet satisfying) for my belly; and a fair amount of sleep
´dozing off (safely) by a roaring fireplace is another one of my idylls.
Alas! The actual image is only a tiny bit bigger than what I've uploaded here. I gave kitty in the background his own little spotlight illustration because I liked the look of him but I knew a lot of his detail was going to be lost in the background of the final image. I ended up decimating his polycount down from like 65K to 3K and you can't tell because of the atmosphere and distance.
Someday, if I can ever managed to get my hands on an RTX 3080 and a new rig, I'll be able to do gigantic renders. I hope anyway. Until then, I'm stuck on this old Windows 7 potato that can barely handle 200K polys without shitting itself. I actually linked to the original render above. That took a half hour to render out and it's STILL riddled with fireflies. XC

I found Gert Frogé, but he has more of a smug smile instead of his tongue sticking out. I also found a fuzzy caterpillar with a fox head. Anyway, really beautiful artwork! I've seen winter days like that where there's a golden sunset getting hazed out by a snowfall that's approaching and starting to obscure the light. The atmosphere of the scene is so tranquil
Absolutely beautiful, and wonderfully atmospheric. This sort of magical light is so much more precious because it is always fleeting.
"I had the house almost entirely to myself for a straight week. It was the best week of my life." - I can empathize. How lovely that the memory of that time has stayed with you so strongly, to be sublimed into this image and presented for our delight all these years on.
Instant favourite.

I like leaving my paintings up to interpretation just to see what people come up with. Personally, I like to imagine there was a fellow on his way home from the store when a surprise snowstorm hit, compounding snow that was already there. It became too difficult to move forward with the cart so he grabbed the essentials and took off without it- he could always come back for everything else later.
I was [this] close to drawing blood spatters on the snow but I wasn't in a sinister-enough mood for that. Besides, I feel like there's something oddly peaceful about this, if a little unsettling.
