With a thoughtful eye toward the future, Fenix Kelley is a decisive visionary whose enthusiasm and compassion embody and buttress his bold, action-oriented approach to life.
The only life Fenix Kelley has ever truly known has been one marked by mystique and driven by an intrigue uncommon to ordinary life. As such, most his past before the age of ten is as enigmatic and fragmented memories of it. It was at that age when the young kit was found alone and severely dehydrated in the Great Salt Lake Desert in northern Utah. When Fenix was first discovered out in the wastelands, he called on his rescuer to help him find his lost companion, but by then, the rabbit was the only one left to be seen. The man who found him, and arctic fox named Kristján Jǫðurrsson knew the danger these lands posed, and after being unable to find anyone else in need of rescue, fled the desert with the boy in tow.
Soon thereafter, the arctic fox, known as “Freyr” by those in the know, spirited the young kit out of harm’s way to the Canadian wilderness of the Yukon. Freyr knew quite well that Fenix would remain unsafe if he lingered near the rumored, covert military installation, so he ensured that the boy would be sheltered in his secluded home outside Whitehorse. Fenix would reveal in short order that, apart from his own name, he was all but unable to recall crucial details which would aid in the recovery of his real identity. While took great effort to convince the rabbit kit to escape in lieu of his friend, in time he took well to his new life and began to treat Freyr like a surrogate father figure. What made this relationship all the stranger was that, as time progressed, Freyr never aged and remained like that of a young man whose features were frozen evermore at nineteen.
In the end, it hardly mattered to learn of this man’s vampiric nature as the arctic fox had so graciously provided him refuge and protection from the forces that once had him ensnared. As the rabbit became acclimated to his new surroundings, the boy was reintroduced under the alias Rowen Kristensen while Freyr sought to locate Fenix’s family. For the next eight years, Fenix flourished and lived an altogether normal life with what people believed to be his adoptive older brother. Much like other children his age, the young man gravitated toward the great outdoors where they could lose themselves in winter sports like skiing and snowmobiling. Although, in the same span of time, Freyr taught Fenix survival skills designed to foster self-sufficiency such as hunting and ice fishing.
Ultimately, the arctic fox hoped the kit would be prepared in case those who kidnapped him all those years ago should ever return. Even as this charismatic rabbit acquired an active social life punctuated by competitive sports and extracurricular activities at L'École Émilie-Tremblay, Fenix could never forget those vivid memories he retained of internment. In dreams, he could still see the faces of those he left behind at that desert compound. Albeit fragmented, the rabbit retained nebulous memories of a family: a mother, a father, and a girl who was surely his sister. The face of this one girl and that of his long-lost companion, Soren, come to mind every day as he trains for the inevitable.

fcsimba! Per usual, they did quite the remarkable job making one of my characters look their best; and I'm grateful to work with them so very often. Not only are they an exceptional artist, but they're exceptionally kind, too! If you haven't yet had the opportunity to check out their art, then you should get on that right away!
