I wish.... i'm out of work right now or i would buy two. I have a puppet designed from someone in town that is kind of like those but it looks like it's hanging off my hand and i'm holding him.

I have some bats and baby chicks still in eggs designed to do the same thing hahahahahahahaha

they look just like the drabbits Albert Alfaro does. I'd be careful using the cable system, he patented it.

yes he did patent it within reason though. I worked with his son for a while at one of the renn fairs they go to. they do theirs out of sculpy and are FAR better artists than I. Mine are cast resin. and a few modifications made to the system to make it work.

there are also other companies using a similar system and regulations set in place within Alfero's Patent to allow for fair usage.

I own quite a few of them and visit them every season. I will let you know that I have informed him about this, I'm a big fan and friend so do understand I'm doing it for the love their work. He may or may not have a problem with this. I can see making them for yourself, but not to sell.

I understand a love of someone work and have NOTHING but respect for the alfero family. That is why I decided to develop my own style rather than copy theirs directly.

Now I can tell that you have made up your mind that I am a horrible person because I make puppets that operate on a similar system to one of your friends (and mine as well btw) but please understand that this is the way the industry works. one person has an awesome ideas and it inspires others to do similar things. imitation is the sincerest form of flattery they say. In addition I am not doing anywhere near the amount of business they do nor am I attempting to make a living at this. all the puppets you see above where actually Christmas gifts. That being said I DO sell them to those interested.

and I also see this particular attack kind of hypocritical from a person with a bulk of their "art" being a DIRECT imitation of someone else's. Were I as intolerant as you are acting I would set out to contact the artists and writers of anime about every cosplayer who dresses up in these stolen designs (notice how insane that sounds).

Sigh. I WAS merely pointing out to you originally that his idea was patented and to watch out for it. But since your so quick to get defensive you make yourself look guilty. If you hadn't done anything wrong a polite 'thank you for your concern would have sufficed quite well, rather then being a jerk about something when I was trying to be nice. you said nothing about warning. I calmly pointed out to you that I was not in violation and you pointed out that you would make a point to bring me up to him. treating me as a thief and criminal (if I've done nothing wrong what is there to tell?) So yes of course I got defensive.

If you go up to my original post, i was clearly telling you to be careful since their patented and they look alot alike. Yes I sent him an email as It irks me the wrong way. But as I said if write me back with no issues then I am more then will to drop the subject too. If you had a friend that made something and someone else made something that was remarkably similar I would hope you where friend enough to tell them about it.

Yes I would provided I had proof of their similarity. YOU however have no such proof aside from your assumptions. There is very little in common between the two creations. For one my design look nothing like theirs aside from the fact that they both use feathers. as well mine uses three cables attached to a pully system and an air bulb allowing the user to move his puppet simply by squeezing the bulb as apposed to turning the end of a bicycle brake cable. I figured this out based on trying to hide the movement of your hand. a squeeze is easier to hide than a twist.

Had you taken ANY time to ask any questions you would have realized there is VERY little in common with the two designs. but all you saw was "puppet, cable, thief" and acted accordingly. so needless to say you are not the only one "irked" here. As I said I have NOTHING but respect for the family's work. I will and Regularly openly admit that his creations did inspire me to figure out a system of my own because I LOVED the idea he had created. That being said I had enough respect that I would not STEAL his creation as many others have. I took a base design and ran with it to create my own creatures. I also tell most people he inspired me and that they should check his work out.

I guess what I am trying to say is that you should get more information on a situation before you jump to conclusions and make accusations. I am not the only person out there who will get upset with you
