Despite ups and downs post-Unicron, Galvatron has always views Roddy as a wee youngling.
Or more accurately his youngling.
Afterall, this kid dropped in front of him inside Unicron, was a little flickering fire of hope!
He wanted to team up so bad with the Autobots to defeat Unicron!
Then next thing he knew, Unicron was gone! The little Autobot runt did it!
He loves him! Love da child!
So yeah, Galvatron is very parental about Rodimus and once the wars over pretty much outright adopts him.

pft stupid Autobots claiming to care about their Prime yet don't remind him to wash behind his 'ears'! Galvatron has to do everything!
