Meet the Rhaglin (r-ah-guh-l-in)
Equivalent of a medium sized burrowing rat.
Found in nearly all parts of the world.
Colours vary for both male and female.
Colours reflect the rocky environment that they are from - specifically the rocks/dirt. (mossy rock, coastal rocks, red rock deserts, ash lands, deep caves, crystal forest caves etc.)
Colours have varying subtle patterns, such as striped tails or spotted backs.
Rhaglins spend a lot of their time burrowing in dirt or sands in search of insects/food. Other animals tend to steal any burrows for their own.
They mostly live along cliff sides and caves, preferring a rocky environment.
Rhaglins that live in cities will dig through plastic, brick, wood, chew through wires etc.
Armored body made of keratin plates, kinda like an armadillo or pangolin. Hard for predators teeth to penetrate through.
4 eyes that are always nearly all black - aside from extremely rare variants which causes solid milky white eyes.
Somewhat adaptive diet. Insects, smaller creatures like frogs or small eggs, fruits, grasses, mussels, crabs.
Also known to eat pebbles, tree bark, and even trash.
Rhaglins have hardened "beak-like" mouth, like a snapping turtle. But also have molars and grinding teeth.
Don't put your finger near, or they may bite it clean off.
They are marsupials - females have a tummy pouch like a possum or kangaroo.
Babies spend most their time inside their mothers pouch, or clinging to their mothers backs.
Females are slightly larger than males to accommodate their tummy pouch.
Males have a large keratin "rhino horn" for fighting with other males during mating seasons.
Both males and females have 2 small horns, likely as a small form of defense.
Both males and females have a larger back dew claw. Helps with climbing and digging.
They make hissing & grunting sounds.
Rhaglins can be somewhat aggressive, defending areas near their young and their favorite areas to dig in.
They are territorial towards Rhaglins not apart of their group.
They can skitter around pretty quick, like a rat or possum.
Normally found in pairs/small groups of established pairs, unless its mating season where larger groups of males gather together for the rights to mate with the females.
Females are attracted to males with large horns and successful fights (better to defend their young with)
Do not keep as pets.
