Valyndra's inquiry into Alissa's lost library led her to a cave with old runes on them. The runes themselves are thousands of years old, far too old to be directly connected to the library, although translating them from a scroll does reveal the steps to an ancient concealing charm. This would fit with what scholars have learned. Technically speaking, people do know where the library is, or rather, where it's supposed to be, but it's been hidden with a very powerful concealment charm.
According to records, the library simply vanished, and the librarians swore they could stand right on top of its location but see nothing of the building itself. Strange.
The librarians all certainly remembered Alissa's funeral and subsequent burial within the library, which was a week before the library itself disappeared without a trace. Memory charms do exist, but they can only erase memories, not alter them, which means Alissa herself certainly couldn't have casted the charm, right? It was most likely the work of a greedy mage seeking to horde the knowledge for themselves.
Whatever the case, even the most powerful concealment charms always include a "back door" of sorts. A way for the caster to get in and out freely without breaking the charm. The question is, where is that back door, and how to open it? Valyndra has a long way to go before she has her answers.
