And now the answer to everyone's favorite question: How big? The answer: quite big, though not incomprehensibly so. At least not now that you have this handy reference!
As a general guideline, they're big enough to handle human-sized folks like dolls but small enough that physical contact doesn't guarantee immediate disaster if they're trained and being careful. This, along with the requirement that the planet must have enough resources to support an entire society of these guys, is why they are the size they are. Some of the illustrations are probably not exactly to scale nor are the "approximate measurements" guaranteed to be anywhere close to accurate, but it's still a fun exercise.
Transcript:
Kintas are approximately ten times taller than humans. Relative to other species, we also exhibit above-average variability in height. The vast majority of us are between 12 m and 24 m tall (40 to 80 ft) and weigh 25 to 150 t. Note: The standard is to measure to the top of the head, which excludes ears and horns! At 17.7 m (58 ft), I’m just about average.
Human, ~1.8 m tall. Van, ~5 m long. Two storey building, ~7 m high. Bus, ~12 m long. Florence, 13.9 m tall. Five storey building, ~17 m tall. Desdeg, 17.7 m tall. Esina, 20.7 m tall. Seven storey building, ~24 m.
Approximate measurements: 1-2 m horns, 2-3 m head height, 1.5-2.3 m head width, 2.5-3.5 m upper arm, 2-3 m lower arm, 2 m hand, 3-5 m torso width, 4-6 m upper leg, 3-5 m lower leg, 3-5 m foot length, 4-12 m tail. 0.4 m ear, 0.3 x 0.1 m eye, 0.7-1.1 m mouth.
The height distribution is skewed high, so you may rarely spot a kinta around the 30 m (100 ft) mark. These true giants have a reputation for strength and nobility, but in reality they just have insurmountable health problems that bring nothing but an early death.
