Well at last I have another traditional work to show off! I've had this little froggy on paint-board for quite some time now and I've finally finished the background for him. Behold, Sly Frog and Clyde Fly.
This marks the most technically perfect piece of cel painting that I've pulled off to this day. Everything kinda went right with this one from: the layering of paint to the background. After years I've finally learned how to apply cel paint!
There are three layers to this work: The frog and foreground, the brown grass and the skyline/clouds.
I used actual production cel panels for this one, from Cartoon Color in California and they are well worth the money and much larger than my previous acetate panels. Also the background is acrylic on canvass board, which adds a nice texture to the sky.
Things are bit out of focus and there's some reflection on the scan making white bits show up, but to the naked eye it's perfect. Frankly I'm surprised it scanned as well as it did.
So I hope you like, let me know what you think.
I'll be framing this along with a surreal piece that I'm still painting on and put them up for sale at the local artist's gallery.
