During the late 70's when the martial arts / ninja craze was at it's peak there were innumerable books on "How To Be A Ninja". As you would rightly expect most of them were crap but one set was interesting because the writer, who's name I've forgotten for the moment, said in an autobiography that when he went to Japan to learn Ninjutsu he spoke to a group of teachers / sensei who asked about his background and things he was interested in. He of course had extensive training in Karate and Judo but what got their attention was his work for theater and his knowledge of makeup and costume design. Because of that they admitted him.
I honestly don't know if his training was legit or not but I DO give it more credit than others like it because they *the teachers* were ALSO interested in the REAL aspects of Ninjutsu namely disguise, concealment, and subterfuge.
I can't wait for THIS class to get to explosive distractions and poisons!
