Balto 2 - Nava and Niju Redesigns
HAPPY 21ST ANNIVERSARY, BALTO 2 THE FILM THE MOVIE THE EXPERIENCE
This movie is one of my childhood favorites, and it sucks in every conceivable way. I was doing a rewrite of it a month or so back, but I don't have time to do shits-n-giggles fan projects anymore, so it'll probably never be finished. That said, I did get some designs done for it, and if you redesign old animated movie characters you are obligated to share them.
Nava is a young adult, slightly older then Aleu, who is being groomed by his dad to become a good pack leader. He's a good hearted guy, but he's a little naive and overzealous. Because of this, it's easy to write his ideas - and concerns, like the ones he has about the dwindling caribou population - off as paranoia from lack of experience. He's the one to discover Aleu and introduce her to wolf culture, and through it she helps him gain confidence. His arch eventually ends with him becoming the pack leader for reals.
Niju is Nava's aforementioned father, having adopted the kid when he was a roly-poly puppy. He's not a fan of progress - he's a stubborn, almost totalitarian traditionalist who is very familiar with bullying people into giving him what he wants. He genuinely loves his son, but he thinks the kid's ideas are stupid and that he'd do better to just listen to his pop. Besides, change is scary and unpredictable, not like the safe, simple life of famine he's living now. He doesn't like Aleu, especially after it's revealed that she's part dog, and he's not afraid of using violence to show it.

i can't either. don't even get me started on Nuk, Yak and Sumac. Not only were they not pleasant to look at, nor funny even when i saw them as a kid, but the other, more serious wallpaper wolves that converse among themselves were more interesting then them. I just don't get why kids movies just HAVE to have dumb/annoying henchmen like its this unwritten law lol.
