Part human. Part animal. These are the genetically-engineered races of the Creatura, the only survivors of a global pandemic, who slowly try to rebuild a world left empty and devastated by the death of the human race three hundred years before.
Shana Feles, a scrappy Felinoid relic hunter, just wanted to finish the mission to the Buffalo ruins, collect her money, and maybe snuggle up to that cute medic Twilight. But then she and her friends stumble across an ancient secret dating from before the Pandemic. A secret some of her fellow Creatura will do anything--and kill anyone--to gain for themselves.
In a perilous quest across a new American frontier, Shana's small band of outcasts try to stay one step ahead of a murderous conspiracy to discover the last great secret of their creators--a secret that may threaten all Shana holds dear.

Yep, this is MAINSTREAM science fiction. More naughty books will be coming shortly, you lovable little pervs.
CREATURA was first published in 2005 by Hard Shell Word Factory, which later became Mundania Press. Mundania folded in 2019, reverting all digital publishing rights back to me. I've been dragging my lazy butt on getting this book back out, but I was finally able to do so this week.
Since this was first written over 20 years ago, I thought that maybe I should give it a rewrite, especially since it deals with near-future events and some of my references and prediction are now pretty dated. In fact, it was one of the big reasons I kept delaying republishing it was the daunting task of rewriting a 97K work. But ultimately I decided to keep the manuscript as is, dated stuff and all, as I think it's still a good story readers will enjoy regardless.
One major thing I did coincidentally get right was a major airborne viral Pandemic hitting the world in the late 2010/early 2020s. Of course the one in the novel was far more devastating, not that the real life version has been fun either.
The cover was done 15 years ago as well, as I was still shopping it around to print publishers (Hard Shell/Mundania only had digital rights) and did the cover illustration as a way to keep up my interest in it. I reworked it a bit, especially the shading, but considering I was using a cheap 2005 graphic software I think it came out pretty good for back then. I may redo the cover completely at some time but this is good enough for now.
Anyway, if you do pick up the book, I hope you enjoy it!

I read the book a long time ago. It was a good read.
But I am extremely concerned about this 'religion, the
Creatura follow.
I want to go into that story and scream,
"I want to talk to someone in charge of The Church of the Six Billion Martyrs, right now!
Who is in charge of this religion? You guys got a bishop, a cardinal, a pope?"
I want to know where this religion came from. It sure as hell didn't fall from 'The Kingdom of God' from up in the sky.
