Gengar and Oxnard make a great pairing. Both are quite playfully mischevious. They also, from what I know, can change their size to adapt to whatever they may be getting themselves into. :) (I know Oxnard can do this, but forget if Gengar can do it, too.)

Funny note is, back in 1998, my friends and I were playing Pokémon Red & Blue. We were taking, what we thought, were tips from the Anime and really made a super effort to get a powerful Haunter to defeat Sabrina. Well, upon seeing, "It's super effective!" write itself out after being attacked by Kadabra, we all were ready to ask how we could be so mislead.
It wasn't until later we learned that 'Poison' was in the Pokémon's description and, well, 'Psychic' is strong against 'Poison'.
I wonder how many other people were duped by the Anime? I am sure you could have gotten quite the collection of reaction videos upon feeling all confident in fighting Sabrina to only get totally owned.

Haha oh yeah, Bedtime is a pretty big Gengar! I dunno how often he changes size, but I think in the anime they do - and heck I think in some of the games and Pokken they do as well. Ghosts have that sorta fun shifting ability!
And haha oh yeah, it's really unfortunate. From what I've heard and read to make sure of, ghost was supposed to be strong against psychic (you know, like someone with strong psychic powers being scared off my ghosts, or bugs, or the dark.) But it sounds like it was either not programmed right, or glitched, so they ended up having no effect when they should have? There's also a combination of poison being weak to psychic, and even then, it sounds like Gengar and a lot of pokemon moves are poison-type, so that might make it tricky too. I guess bugs ended up being the one you had to use, maybe Ash should have held onto Caterpie, or gotten a beedrill! It's sure strange, haha, but yes, looking online, people still really hate the Sabrina fight.
