Chapter 55: The Securi-trons Strike Again!!!
For the rest of the fair, Team W.I.L.D spent their time tending to their garden, making sure the strawberries had enough light or liquid nutrients. They were hoping their project would make a good impression for the professor.
"Do you think Professor Edward will like our garden?" Max asked. "Don't worry, Max." Jake assured. "It won't be perfect but like we said, we did our best." "Well, let's just hope that nothing bad happens today." Mikey added.
"Relax, bud." Jake replied. "I doubt Mc.Hannibal will try to attack a public school with his robot army." "What about the Devourer?" Jenny asked. "He might send Arthor, Grendal or any other demon to attack everyone here."
"True," Max added. "you guys heard what Grendal said; it's only just begun." "Well, we can't worry about now." Mikey stated. "Professor Edward will be here any second." "Speaking of which," David spoke up. "he's coming right now."
"Oh quick, guys!" Mikey exclaimed. Team W.I.L.D went to the front to greet him. Professor Edward walked up with Mr Hoffmann. "So kids," he asked. "what have you got for me?" "Professor Edward," Mikey replied. "we would like to present you our hydroponic garden."
Professor Edward seemed to be intrigued by the garden. "Lovely," he said. "but is so special about it?" "Well, Professor," Max replied. "it's best to show you." With that, he and David lifted up one of the trays of strawberries plants to reveal the tank of solution.
The professor was surprised at the tank. “Amazing!” He whispered. “I only heard rumors about soiless gardening!” Mikey smiled widely. “I’m glad to hear that, sir.” The team proceeded to explain how they were able to make their garden grow with the special nutrient solution.
(2 mins later...)
“Incredible!” Professor Edward exclaimed. “This method will help reduce clearing forests for farmland.” “Tell me,” he asked. “what are you growing exactly?” “Some strawberries” Max replied, showing them some of the fresh, ripe strawberries the team had picked.
“Oh, don’t mind if I do.” Professor Edward chuckled and popped one strawberry into his mouth. “Mmmmhhhhmmmm, how delicious!!!” the professor chuckled. “I can see you all worked hard on this!”
“We did, professor.” Mikey replied proudly. “Well, I’ll be heading off now.” Edward explained. “Oh, be sure to come for the finale.” “Finale?” Max asked. “Of course!” “Miss Rena and her group have a special project they wish to share with the whole class.”
This surprised the team as the professor left. “Wonder what has the entire student council made that everyone wants to see it?” Jenny asked. “Maybe, we can check it out? Max asked. “If it’s so popular and all.”
“Ah, sure.” David replied. “Since our presentation is done,” he added “we’ve got nothing to do left.” The others agreed. Max, on the other hand, had a strange feeling about Rena’s secret project, something that made him uncomfortable.
(2 hours later...)
“Can you find a space?” Jake asked. “It’s hard when you’re squished in between visitors.” Mikey grumbled. It was nearly time for the student council’s project presentation and practically, everyone had gathered at the center of the gym to see it.
Team W.I.L.D had trouble making their way through the large crowd to find a place to get a clear view. They managed to find a space where they could get a good look at the project. In the center were six huge metal pods.
“What kind of project did Rena make?” Max wondered. Before he could ask Jenny, the entire crowd applauded as the entire student council appeared to greet them. “Welcome, ladies and gentlemen!” Shun announced. “It is an honor to one of the greatest scientists to be here to witness our masterpiece.” Professor Edward smiled as he stood at the very front of the crowd.
“I may have been the one to came up with this idea,” he added “but my team put their heart and effort to make this project together.” “If used right, this project will help protect the earth and all of humanity.”
“Now, everyone, let’s give them a show, shall we?” With that, the rest of the student council stepped forward and Louis pushed a button on a remote. The six containers hissed and opened up, steam billowing out.
Everyone gasped in astonishment as six android like being emerged from the pods. “Allow us to introduce the Eco Force 9000!!!” Murmurs of amazement rose from the crowd. Team W.I.L.D, were more shocked than awed.
“Guys...” Mikey whispered. “those look like those crazy robots that attacked us at the zoo.” “I know!” Jake whispered back. “What’s Shun thinking, building those things?!” “Max, what should we do?” Jenny asked.
“Okay, first, let’s not start a panic.” David replied. “Shun may be a braggart at times but he’s not dumb enough to bring killer robots to the school.” Max narrowed his eyes, the feeling of dread filled his stomach again.
Shun added. “These androids are highly sophisticated, with the latest technology installed and integrated.” He explained. “Each of them is 10 times stronger, faster and more skilled than the best soldier.”
“Each of them has equipped with solar cells in their bodies, which gives them power.” Everyone was astounded at all the marvellous things the robots could do, especially Professor Edward. Team W.I.L.D, on the other hand, knew better. They were still wary about this.
“Our goal was to build something that could benefit humanity and the environment.” Shun exclaimed. “With Eco-force, we can do so much more!” “They will protect humanity and our world from any danger or threat, natural or manmade.”
“No one; man, woman or child will live in fear anymore under the watchful care of these warriors.” He concluded. “Together, both man and machine will work together to make our world a better and safer place.” The entire school applauded, echoing the entire gym.
The student council bowed and waved, though Max noticed some guilt and uneasiness in Rena’s eyes. Just before he could ask her, something happened. There was a loud whirring sound and to everyone’s shock, the androids’ faces lit up and they began to levitate off the ground.
Everyone clapped and cheered louder, except for Team W.I.L.D. “Uh, guys?” David asked nervously. “Was this part of the presentation?” “I don’t think so.” Mikey replied. Max’s instincts kicked in. Thanks to his sharp hearing, he heard Rena talking to Shun and Louis.
“Shun, how are doing this?” Rena asked. “I’m not doing anything.” Shun replied, nervously. “Well, turn them off!” Louis added. “I can’t!” Shun exclaimed. “These were only built for display!” Max’s eyes narrowed upon hearing that. “That doesn’t sound good.” he thought.
Suddenly, the faces of the androids turned a neon red and to everyone’s shock, they began to speak. “Attention, who among you is the one known as the Wild Guardian?” Everyone was confused or in Team W.I.L.D case, horrified. “Oh no, guys.” Jenny whispered. “There’re looking for us.”
Before anyone could ask, Professor Edward stepped forward. “Excuse me...” he explained. “We know nothing about this Wild Guardian person.” An uneasy silence followed. “Very well, human.” One of the androids replied. “We understand.”
“Thank you." Professor Edward said. “Mr Shun, I never would expect you to-” “BANG!!!” Suddenly, a loud gunshot and terrified screams was heard as Professor Edward cried out, collapsing to the ground and clutching his shoulder, which was bleeding.
“HOLY S*IT!!!!” Jake screamed, as Team W.I.L.D stared in horror as panic rose among the crowd. The student council were faring no better, Shun and Louis’s faces were pale and Rena covering her mouth with her hands, with Jade clinging onto her for comfort.
The lead android had one of his arms converted into a small cannon and was now pointing at the crowd. “Since you humans will not tell us where the Wild Guardian is,” the lead android explained. “you have forced us to take extreme measures.”
To everyone’s horror, the other androids pointed their cannon arms at the crowd. “Spread out, Securi-trons!!” the lead android yelled. “Find the Wild Guardian! Tear down the entire school if you have to and destroy anyone who gets in your way!”
Team W.I.L.D were horrified at this. “Guys...” Max said grimly. “I’m afraid trouble just came knocking in.”
