Chapter 58: Chimera Showdown!!!!
The chimera prowled around the school campus, its three heads sniffing to catch any scent and six eyes scoured the area for any sign of those kids. It snarled as it continued to search for them. Little did it knew that far of at the football stadium, in a small storeroom in the hallway, voices could be heard.
“Are you sure this is safe, Mikey?” David asked. “Well, it was the only place I could think off to hide.” Mikey replied, causing David to groan. “It will do,” Max spoke up. “for now.” We find team W.I.L.D hiding in the sports storeroom. David and Max bolted the door shut and they were now figuring out a plan to get rid of the monster for good.
“So, what’s the plan?” Jake asked. “We can’t stay in here forever.” “Maybe there is something we could use in here.” Jenny replied, looking around. All they could find were sport supplies such as baseball bats, treadmills, dumb-bells and lots of balls. “Well, all we have are...” she hesitated for a moment. “balls.”
“And what do we suggest we do?” David asked sarcastically. “Play fetch with it?!” “Hey, calm down!” Jenny defended herself. “I just trying to help!” David groaned at her idea of “help”. “Still,” Jake added. “we can’t stay here forever.”
“What can we do?” Mikey asked. “We’ve got no way to fight that monster.” He sat right down on something. “Hey, what’s this?” “Mikey, what did you find?” Max asked. Everyone saw Mikey stand up, holding a strange net in his hands.
“It’s just a volleyball net.” David explained. Max looked at it for a while and seemed to be in thought. “Actually,” he explained, smiling. “I think that’s given me an idea.” The others looked at him. “Max?” Jenny asked. Max smiled widely, gathered his friends around. “Guys, gather around” he whispered. “It’s time we bait a rat.”
(10 mins later...)
The chimera prowled around the school yard. Its six green eyes scanning throughout the area, growling and snorting out steam through its mechanical nostrils. “Hey you!” The three-headed monster turned to see Max waving at him. “Yeah, you girly dog!!”
The chimera snarled and narrowed its eyes. “That’s right!” Max jeered and taunted. “You such a silly sissy dog.” (Note: I love Garfield so this is inspired by him.) “GGGGRRRRRROOOOOOAAAAAARRRRRR!!!!!!!” The monster roared and charged at them.
Max grinned and instantly changed, tribal tattoos appeared all over his body. His blue eyes turned a feral gold, black tears markings appeared on his face and his teeth sharpened. His arms and legs grew slightly longer and more lean, with coarse fur growing out of them. His hands and feet turned into paws. Spots appeared on his body and a long spotted tail sprouted from his bottom.
“How about you handle cheetah speed??!!” Max called, in the form of a cheetah-man and sprinted away on all fours just as the chimera pounced and crashed onto the ground. Now, the chase was on!!!!! Cheetah-Max never imagined how fast a cheetah could run.
He ran so fast that he almost felt like his paws weren’t touching the ground. He felt as if he was a race car driving through the highway. The roars of the chimera were the only things that reminded him of the plan.
“Come on, bozo!!!” Cheetah-Max called out as he sprinted, the three headed monster at his heels. He weaved and bobbed, hoping to make the mechanical monster to overheat. All it did was make it mad, roaring and howling all the way.
Cheetah-Max felt his heart pound like thunder, his limbs burned like fire. He knew cheetahs have low stamina so they can’t run fast for long. Instantly, he raced to the football stadium. The chimera chasing after him.
“Almost there.” He panted, his furry brow sweating as he entered the large arena. “Come on, big guy.” He muttered, running across the football field. Finally, he yelled at the top of his voice “NOW, GUYS!!!”
Just as the three-headed creature was about to seize Cheetah-Max in his jaws, a huge net sprang up and the chimera collided straight into it. Cheetah-Max, being smaller and swifter, simply ran beneath it as the monster’s legs was soon wrapped up.
“We’ve got it!” David cried out as he and Jake ran around the monster, each holding one end of the net. The monster roared as the two friends hurried to the sides of the field and wrapped the ends of two goalposts.
“Hey big guy!!” Mikey called out. He and Jenny arrived carrying two thick, long ropes with nooses tied at their ends. Mikey threw his rope around the monster’s three necks and lassoed them with the noose. Jenny ran to the other side and did the same.
“Alright, NOW!!!” David yelled and everyone pulled with all their might. The chimera roared as the net entangled its legs and the nooses tightened around their necks. As the monster teetered, Jenny yelled. “Now’s your chance, Max!!”
Cheetah-Max wasted no time. “Alright!” His fox totem necklace glowed brightly and a golden aura surrounded him, taking the form of a cheetah snarling. “You want me so bad?!” he demanded. “Open wide!!!”
With every ounce of his speed, Cheetah-Max charged forward like a bolt of lightning. With a loud war-cry, he lunged forward with his claws bared. “SHINNNGGG!!!!” Cheetah-Max plunged into the tiger’s mouth and sliced his way through and out at the end with a loud SMASH!
Max panted as he reverted back to his human form and looked back to see a gigantic tunnel right through the chimera, with sparks and wires fluttering out. The others dropped the net and ropes as the mechanical beast’s six eyes went out and collapsed to the ground with a loud CRASH!!!!
Max staggered to his feet as his friends ran over to him in concern. “Max!” Jenny was the first to reach him as she helped him up. “Are you alright?” she asked, worriedly. “I’m fine...” Max breathed. “Just a little tired.”
“Still,” David assured. “our plan worked.” “It was smart of you to use the volleyball net to trap it” he added, making the others smile, especially Max. “Hey, guys.” Mikey spoke up. “I just realised; we took down a gigantic robotic monster!”
“Yeah!” Jake added. “We actually beat a giant robot!!” Everyone chuckled at that. Max stopped laughing and looked at the fallen pile of metal. “Max, what’s wrong?” Jenny asked, when she saw his sombre face.
“Guys...” Max explained. “I don’t think it’s over.” Everyone looked at him in confusion. “What do you mean?” Mikey asked. Max felt a lump rise in his throat. “Mc.Hannibal just sent androids and a three-headed monstrosity to our school to find me.” “In doing so, he attacked and put a lot of innocent people in danger.”
Everyone felt their blood run cold at this. “Max,” Jake asked. “are you saying...” “I’m saying this won’t be the last time.” Max grimly answered “Mc.Hannibal will continue to send more of those mechanical monsters to kill me and he will stop at nothing to do that.”
Max turned to his friends. “Guys, I hope you are ready, because this war has only just begun...”
