Nature Trek and Campout Part 1
For the next few weeks, Max and his friends spend their time in his tree house, training in the dojo, tending to the animals in the clinic, reading in the library or just hanging out at the main room.
Today, however was special. It was Saturday and Max was even more excited than ever. Right now, he was at his house, laying on his bed. He couldn’t help but think of yesterday when Bean made an offer.
(Flashback)
We find our friends resting back in the treehouse. It had been an amazing day for them and now they were at the main room, relaxing on hammocks that hung on by wooden posts. “This is the life.” Dennis spoke up, streching his arms as he lay on his hammock.
“Max,” Harold added, laying down on his hammock with a lazy smile on his face. “I take back everything I said about you.” “You are an amazing guy.” He admitted. Max smiled at that. “I’m glad you finally said that.” He replied.
“Hey, guys...” David asked. “Wouldn’t it be great if we could camp out here?” “Hey!” Jake added, excitedly. “That’s a great idea!” “We should have a campout here!!” He continued, . “Really?!” Dennis asked, greatly intrigued. “Right here?!”
“Yeah!” Jenny agreed,. “We can sleep in the treehouse, roast marshmellows and tell scary stories!” “You guys really want to camp in the treehouse?” Max asked, in amazement. “Hell yeah!!!” David replied. “This would be a perfect campsite!!”
“That’s great!” Max exclaimed. “I should ask my grandparents about this!” “The rest of us will ask our parents and bring snacks for our camping trip.” “Oh, this is so exciting!!!” Sophie squealed. “This will be my first camping trip ever!!!”
“Are you sure about this?” Bean asked, albeit nervously. “I’ve never been camping before.” “Don’t worry, cuz.” Mikey assured. “Jake’s the best survival expert and we’ve got Tarzan Jr with us.” “I’m sure you’ll have a great time!!!” He added, getting Bean to smile.
“So, it’s settled, then!” David declared. “We’re going to have a treehouse campout!!” “YEAH!!!” Everyone cheered.
(Flashback end...)
We cut back to Max who is now standing in front of a mirror and dressed in a black T-shirt with a picture of a tiger on the front and long blue trousers. The golden fox totem necklace was still around his neck and he had black fingerless gloves on his hands.
“This is it.” He told himself, smiling at his reflection. “Max!!!” Shen Li called out. “Your friends are here!!” “Thanks, Obaa-chan!!” He called back. “Campout, here I come!!!” He thought excitedly as he raced out of his room, grabbing his backpack on the way out.
(5 mins later...)
“Alright!” David exclaimed, clutching his backpack’s straps and dressed in thick jeans and a soldier-green shirt. “Is everyone here?” He and all the others were all dressed in outdoor clothes and carrying backpacks, standing outside Max’s house. “Not yet.” Dennis replied. “Max’s still inside and we’re still waiting for Bruce and Sophie.”
“Hey, guys!!!” Max burst out of his door, carrying his backpack. “Am I late?!” “Nope” Jenny replied. “The only ones left are Bruce and the drama queen.” “Well, Tarzan Jr.” Jake asked. “Are you ready?” “Sure, I am!” Max replied, grinning from ear to ear.
“I’m here!!!!” A voice called out, causing everyone to look. “Oh no...” Jenny groaned. “Speak of the devil.” she muttered as they all saw Sophie dressed in skinny jeans and a pink shirt that hugged her bosom. She wore a cowgirl’s hat on her head and a bright smile on her face.
“Hey, Max!!!” Sophie happily skipped forward and wrapped her arms around his left arm. “Aren’t you glad to see me?!” “Yeah...” Max nervously asked, sweatdropping. “Sorry,” Jenny spoke up in annoyance, wrapping her arms on Max’s left. “but I think he says otherwise.”
“Oh really?” Sophie asked, in a snippy tone. “He would have said it himself.” “Well, if I were him,” Jenny continued, gripping Max’s arm tightly. “I would not want a lovesick psycho clinging onto me like a monkey!” “Well,” Sophie shot back, clutching tightly to Max’s other arm “I’m sure he doesn’t want a sweaty, gorilla-armed tomboy grabbing him either!!”
“Why you!!!” Jenny screeched. “Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow!!!!!” Poor Max yelled as the girls engaged in a lover’s tug-of-war. The others couldn’t help but laugh at Max’s expense. “Uh, by the way,” Max asked. “Where’s Bruce?”
As if to answer his question, Bruce appeared. He looked like he was about to collapse over carrying a large pink leather bag in his arms. “There! You! Are!” Bruce panted out, sweating uncontrollably. “I could! Use a! HAND OVER HERE!!!” He yelled, veins popping out in annoyance.
“Oh, my bag!” Sophie replied. “It took you long enough.” “LONG ENOUGH?!” Bruce screamed, dropping the bag on the ground. “I’VE BEEN CARRYING THAT BAG FOR NEARLY 13 STRIDES!!!!” “Be careful!” Sophie protested. “This is a geniune French leather bag straight from Paris!”
“Yeah, yeah!!” Bruce grumbled. “Well, we’re all here now.” Sophie continued. “Shall we get going?” No one answered. “What?” Sophie asked. “What now?” Everyone just stared at the large pink bag. “WHAT?” The blonde asked again.
“Are you seriously bringing that?” Jenny asked. “WHAT?!” Sophie yelled. “I brought my own backpack!” “That looks like more like a suitcase than a backpack.” David muttered. “Come on!!” Sophie protested. “I did what you said!” “And I only brought one bag, honest!!”
She turned to Max. “Come on, Maxie!!” she pleaded, with huge puppy dog eyes. “Surely you understand, right?!” Max didn’t say anything, he just stared at her and then, he stared at her big pink bag.
A long silence followed as everyone just stared at Sophie. Finally, she sighed deeply and dragged her huge bag into Max’s house. After what seemed like an eternity, she appeared again, this time, carrying a small backpack.
“Happy now?” She asked. Everyone chuckled. “Yep!” Mikey replied. “Now, let’s get going!!”
