I wanted to post this in its work in progress stage since I'm really happy with the shading, especially in the mouth, which will be buried in the details of the design later when I get to sorting out the colours and the gold pieces. For now it's all sort of forcibly muted toward tarnish-y colours and I find it pretty aesthetically pleasing, hope folks agree ^^ expect a brighter, cleaner, but maybe less technically flashy version in the future

(also heyo it's my first art I've got anywhere with in ages and I did the artist meme thing and drew 2/3 of the lineart in a sketch layer. fortunately I sketch using the characters' base colours so hopefully it doesn't show too much with the blocking done >>')
