Chapter 69: Saving the Girls
When we last left our Max and his friends, they were at Jenny’s house to visit her after the mall fight. The boys were hoping to spend some time with her since she was grounded and they even got a surprise visit from Sophie who was sent by her mother to apologize to Jenny.
Their visit took a strange turn when four mysterious packages arrived at Jenny’s doorstep, supposedly from Jenny’s mother. The packages revealed to be two fembot costumes for Jenny and Sophie, complete with strange headsets.
Jenny and Sophie placed the costumes on, thinking they were early Halloween costumes. Unknown to them, the costumes turned out to be another one of Mc.Hannibals schemes to destroy Max and the headsets ended up placing the girls under control.
Now, we find our friends face to face with a mind-controlled, robotized Jenny and Sophie who held them at cannon-point. “Damn it!” Max thought. “I can’t fight Jenny and Sophie like this!!” “There’s gotta to be some way to snap them out of it!!”
The two girls’ cannon-arms were still aimed at them and they were starting to glow. Max knew he had to act fast, but fortunately for him, Mikey came to his rescue. “Sorry about this, girls!!” He yelled, swinging something long at Jenny’s gut.
The force was enough to send her crashing into Sophie and into the wall. Everyone gasped and turned to Mikey, who was holding onto his bo-staff. “Thanks, Mikey!” Max replied, amazed.
“No problem,” Mikey replied. “I’ve brought the others’ as well; I figured something like this would happen, so I took precautions.” “Come on, we should get outta of here.” He added, throwing David and John their weapons.
The boys wasted no time, grabbing their stuff and racing out of the door. They hurried out to the street and stopped for a second. “So, anyone got a plan?!” John asked. “What plan?!” David added. “How are we supposed to fight two killer robot girls?!”
“Those killer robots are our friends!” Max yelled. “There has to be a way to snap them out of Mc.Hannibal’s control.” “How, Max?!” David yelled back. “The only way to stop them is to remove those headsets and there’re stuck on them!”
“Maybe we can find a way to short-circuit them.” Mikey offered. “There has to be a kill switch to shut the headsets down.” “You think you can hack into them, Mikey?” John asked. Before anyone could reply, a loud *BOOM!!* sounded from the house.
The boys screamed and to their horror, they found Jenny and Sophie, their cannon-arms raised and aiming at them. “Okay, guys!!” David exclaimed. “What do we do now?!” “Should we fight?” asked Max.
“Fight them?!” Mikey exclaimed. “Jenny is a red belt in karate; fighting her is like fighting a rabid wildcat!!” “Plus, Sophie is a master gymnast.” he added. “She is as slippery as an eel when it comes to agility!”
“Surrender, Wild Guardian.” the two girls spoke again. “You cannot win against the Unity Sisters.” “Come on, girls!!” Mikey exclaimed. “Snap out of it!!!” “You have to fight Hannibal’s control!!!” he added. “Please, we know you’re still in there, fight it!!!”
“Negative, human.” they replied. “Your friends are gone, surrender now.” “That’s not true!!” Max yelled. “The girls are stronger than this!!” “I never turn my back on my friends!” He added. “I never had and never will!!”
“If there is one thing I know about Jenny and Sophie,” he continued. “is that they are good people with good hearts.” “Jenny was one of the few people who welcomed and accepted me for who I am.” He added. “She helped me to fit in when everyone else shunned or rejected me.”
“Sophie may act like a spoiled and stuck-up girl,” Max ranted on. “but deep down, she is just a shy and insecure girl who just wants to make some friends.” “If there’s one thing I learnt from staying here, it’s that they stood by me through times of trouble!!”
“Jenny, Sophie!!!!” he called out to them. “Listen, I don’t know if you can hear me, but you must fight it.” “You girls are the strongest people I know,” he added. “you always been there for us, you can’t let some stupid computer beat you!!!”
“Please, I know you’re still in there!!!” He pleaded. “You’re not alone, we’re here for you; we can help you!!!!!” The two girls paused for a moment, their arms raised. “Max...” The boys’ eyes widened when they heard Jenny spoke.
“Jenny?!” Max asked. Suddenly, the visors’ lights vanished, their arms reverting to normal and the girls’ eyes were clearly seen. “M-M-Max?” Jenny asked, her voice choked with emotion. “Jenny!” Max exclaimed. “It’s me!!” “Girls, are you alright!” Mikey asked, worriedly.
“M-M-Maxie...” Sophie added, her sapphire eyes filled with tears. “Please, help me...” “Max,” Jenny whimpered, a pleading and terrified look on her face. “I’m sorry...I didn’t mean too...” “Girls, its okay.” Max replied, approaching them. “Listen to me, we can help you.”
“Max...” Jenny began to speak. “I’m sorry, I-Urk!!!!” She and Sophie suddenly jolted, their eyes wide. Suddenly, to the boys’ horror, they screamed and clutched the sides of the heads, with pained expressions. “Girls!!!” Max exclaimed. “Come on, girls!!” David added. “Fight it!!”
“Max, run!!!” Jenny screamed. “It’s too strong, we can’t fight it!!!” “Maxie, I’m scared!!!!” Sophie screamed as well. “Please, I don’t want to hurt you, run!!” “Girls!!” Max tried to persuade them. “I’m not leaving you!!”
“RUN!!!!” The girls screamed, startling the boys so much that they turned tail and ran for it. Max turned into a full cheetah and sprinted off, with the other boys running after him. “Max, wait up!!!” Mikey called.
“Hang on, girls!!” Cheetah-Max told himself. “We’ll find a way to save you, I promise!!!”
