This winter, for me at least, has been long, and not very creative. The atmosphere has been vaguely photogenic in very small patches. Little opportunity to shoot snow. Today, I was drug out of the house to a place I had shot years ago, Mingus Mill. It's a lovely area with a water driven mill, the sluice does still operate, though it is closed off most of the time. This year there will be a full restoration of this mill built originally in 1886. If ever you're in Western North Carolina you should come by and see this lovely old piece of history. I didn't shoot the building itself, instead I focused on the sun backlighting the small waterfall, the streams of water rolling down the stacked logs. I tried to get this image properly exposed, get the detail on point.
