So yeah, I started finally doing the whole DnD thing a bit over a year back as a DM with my friends and made this one NPC character that joins the players party early on. He's called Ziggy, the kobold cleric. Eventually I passed on my DM cloak to one of the other players and now I'm playing him as just another player and it's hella fun <3
Here's Ziggy going all "KOBOLD SMASH" on some random giant with his oversized shield (which is probably pretty normal sized to a human ;D)

Well, all I can say is "Fantasy" *makes magical hand movements while saying that word*
Though I admit that MAYBE a kobold with a STR score 19 is NOT as strong as a human with STR score 19, for example XD But to keep our game balanced and working the way it is currently, we're not too keen on making such custom balancing rules on the spot in our game. Not yet, anyway.
