First part to a two piece commission done for 8y7-d2j on DA. This is a reference sheet for his neutral Transformer character Onyx. This took forever to design from scratch and I think I went through three total redesigns before finally settling on this one. He looks a little too Seeker-ish for my tastes, but in the end it was the best of the designs. All the other ones were lacking. Anyhow. It's a bit of a G1/Bay Movieverse blend. Was originally supposed to make it a bit more Animated too, but I fail hard at that style at the moment.

Despite it being a challenge, I'm pleased with the result and enjoyed it. It was a learning experience and has definitely made me more keen on drawing more Transformers or mech-like characters. Haha. It's like once you start, you can't stop!

Oh, an iridescent metal? Is VERY hard to pull off. XD So much fine tuning. Seriously though, I think it came out okay for my first attempt.
