This is a follow-on in the "snarl series" by request of Sir Kaine. :)
This is another one of Mufasa. Normally, Mufasa is a very good-natured lion, especially that lions tend to be a bit flaky and in general, not very happy kitties. But like most other cats, food is a serious thing, and so Moof tends to be both very protective of his food, and a little grumpy after finishing it, as he always wants more (and really hates chicken!).
So this is one of those capture-the-moment shots. I've worked with Mufasa a long time, and normally, even with food, he doesn't snarl too much at me. In this case, I'm rather pestering him, with the camera no less, and he's still got a bit of food in his pan, so he's giving me the half-heated warning snarl on two counts: 1) don't you even /think/ about messing with my food, and 2) if you /must/ bother me, put the darn camera away and scratch my shoulder! You think I'm just laying here so you can take my picture?!
So this is a semi-snarl from the Mufasa-Lion. I hope it makes your week, Sir Kaine! :)
Not the most amazing shot (sorry about the cage-wire in the bottom corner), but still, a profile snarl, kinda up-close, so the "mechanical aspects" of the face are somewhat visible in this one, and besides, everyone loves a lion, right?
This picture was taken 21-Jun-03. The image was taken with a Canon EOS 10D and the EF 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 USM lens. The original was taken at full frame of 3072x2048x24b, ISO eqv 400, 1/250 shutter, f/3.5. This image was shrunken down and cropped a little for space conservation.
Disclaimer: I hate to have to put this on here, but the pic is copyright me. Please do not distribute, copy, alter, etc, without my permission. Having said all that, feel free to download and use it for your own inspiration.

Actually, I don't think I have any of me with Moof, as I've been the one behind the camera, although I've got some what have been taken during tours, so I might have one from one of them. I'll look for you.
About the avatar, yes. I've been using mini versions of some of the animals (Dagger, Drifter, Java, and Macumba) but this one was done for me by a dear friend some years back specifically for "ShastaNeonHyperSpastiKitty", so I thought it would be good to shrink it down to the size that FA requires (darn that's small!) and then use it here on a more or less permanent basis, although I might try and do a head-only version of it. It's a little, sprinting cougar-kitty, if you can't tell. :)

Oh:D Thank you SO much Shasta^.^ *Hugs*
Mufasa is such a beautiful animal, i'm actually having trouble thinking up words to write here:p
No worries about the cage-wire, it's already gone using photoshop;)*I'm almost an expert in there now:p* You can have the edited pic if you'd like...
And while we're on the subject:
Mess with my food, and i WILL stab you with my fork! So BACK OFF!!

I'm glad you like it, Sir Kaine!
I think that most creatures on the planet are very protective of their food. It's probably yet another trait that humanity shares with animals, although very few would admit it (something about ego, probably). I, of course, feel entirely the same. In fact, mess with my food, and you're lucky if I've only stabbed you with my fork! }:>

You're very welcome, Sir Lionus, although the credit goes entirely to Mufasa, for without him, I would have no need for photography and in fact, nothing to photograph. :)
I am glad you'll find it useful, and as I'm realise there's an quite large lion population here on FA, I'll definitely be uploading a few more lion pix. Enjoy!

I used to work with one named "Kimba" (Swahili for "lion") at the beginning of my tenure, but he passed away in late 2000. He was 15-y-o, and had not had a good life. He was really beat-up, and didn't really like people very much, not that I could blame him.
I don't have any good pictures of him, but I have a few with my much older, comsumer-cheapie-grade digital camera. So I might be able to post a few of him as well.

Oh:D I want to see Kimba:D You have to post them:p I think he would want to be appreciated by us even if he's not here anymore:)
And i'm glad you took the time to snap some photos of him while you had the chance... It would have been just too sad if he lived a crappy life, and then passed away and no one really got to want him to come back:S
Hmm... I wonder where he is right now... I wonder if the rainbow bridge really exists...

I'll look for some pic of him. I know I have a very few (I think six, and they're all crappy), but yes, I agree that it'd be good to honor him with a bit of notice. :)
I guess that I really don't know what I believe as far as the "afterlife" for animals. Whether there /is/ one or not, it's probably more important that I know for sure that he's better off, whereever he is now, as he if free from his captivity and abuse from mankind, for all the rest of eternity.
I was honored to have known him. Like with so many other animals, my life was made richer by the experience, even as short a time as it was (about a year).
