Variel pauses and looks at Cinder properly.
"Thank you, as always, for your counsel. I'm glad to have you as a friend and companion. And while I... cannot apologize enough for my earlier outburst, I stand by what I said. It's not us and Cinder; you're one of us. We will stop this. We will stop this." She gives him a weak but genuine smile and starts to gather herself. "I should go."

There's a moment between her assertion about him and declaring that she should go where Cinder appears to glare at her. But, as the latter phrase falls from her lips, he reaches out to pull her into a hug. Tensely, as though he expects her to wriggle away the moment she realizes what he's doing.

She does not. She very much needs it, and as if in response to that, he completely envelops her. His weight settles rather heavily onto her as he melts into the gesture with a very long sigh.

She clings and nestles in, sighing similarly. "Thank you."
