Coincidence that his fur color matches the bathroom's color scheme lol, but whatever the case may be you matched the real life lighting to the digital drawing perfectly.
I think you could make a good business case painting characters over pictures if you decided to dedicate yourself more to it.

oh, i made the character fur colour match the background picture by playing a bit with them, it has stuff to do with the colour theory and stuff, an item's colours can change according to the surrounding colours/lights. I just had to find a middle point by also adding some extra colour to the base picture. it was all about playing with the picture, really :)
Also, I'm up for doing paintovers, actually. but it's more about what customers want to buy, I can only offer my options, the rest is up to them. As an example, I want to make more stickers, but people comes more often for my ref sheets than anything else :P

I can't even tell you actually tweaked with the background itself. Looks straight out of real life, how sneaky lol. If that's what color theory is I've always been terrible at it jaja, and that explains why you're so well practiced in blending and balancing colors.

that's part of the magic, when you do it nicely and it doesn't look like it's altered :)
Color theory is something you pick with time and just "addapt it" to whatever you want to do, its like.... guidelines, but sometimes you can play around them to fit whatever you need, to be honest
And the only way to promote my paintovers or stickers, is to make personal stuff, because otherwise, ref sheets are like the 90% of my commission list. But beind honest, I don't have the energy for doing personal drawings XD
