Matpat is cool and all, but it is not canon and the theory isn't exactly sound and with a bit of confirmation bias. All the evidence could point to her being Luigi's sister or Peach's cousin. But because we don;t see anyone else of Peach's family or Mario's family. he fit the evidence to point to a character we do know.
