This piece was done shortly after my return form Sitka, Alaska.
I wanted to honor "Koots newkiik" [Tlingit]- The Fortress of the Bear. A conservation organization that rears orphans bears in Sitka, The Fortress is a beautifully designed and maintained facility which I had the pleasure of visiting.
Seen here, a "Copper". Copper was the most valuable in economies to the First Nations of the North West Pacific. Due to their economic systems, a Copper could never loos in value, only gain.
This Copper is forged in the shape of a shield or Crest. It bears the symbol of the Bear- the great Grizzlies one can find at Koots Newkiik.
The original of this piece is painted in iridescent acrylic copper- so it's real life appearance is even more majestic.
Size: 9" X 12" (roughly)
Medium: Acrylic on Board
Original for Sale: $150
Prints: $10

These are not "trippy works". These are North West Pacific Indigenous style of art, and usually we ask that people respect the style and the cultural integration of them, since they come with a lot of culturally specific backgrounds and teachings.
Tikis is based on a Polynesian style of art. This is North West Pacific. :)
