Done shortly after my return form Sitka, Alaska.
Planning my trip to Sitka, I capitalized on arranged Aboriginal Tours and excursions- as well as wildlife ones- for myself and my mother (the trip was her Birthday Gift).
Due to my ties with various Aboriginal Groups, it was clear that we would make friends quickly in Sitka. Obviously, they would come from all over and different clans. The dominant clan in Sitka is Kiksaadi [Frog] and I had the pleasure of meeting many from Kogwanton [Wolf].
I painted this crest in honor of the Kogwanton peoples that hosted us so very well.
Both myself and my mother are looking to go back and visit again soon. We miss it dearly.
The image is painted in the form of a "Copper".
Copper was the most valuable in economies to the First Nations of the North West Pacific. Due to their economic systems, a Copper could never loos in value, only gain.
This Copper is forged in the shape of a shield or Crest. It bears the symbol of the Wolf- to honor Kogwanton.
The original image is painted with iridescent Silver Acrylic- which makes it look even more majestic in person.
Size: 9" X 12" (roughly)
Medium: Acrylic on Board
Original for Sale: $150
Prints: $10
