These two are Alnog and Fwith, from my NaNoWriMo project last year. They were created as word padding (and as a challenge from my Writing Buddy to do something a little off the wall). The names were two typos I made, that then became a Paladin of Kortin (Alnog, the guy in the armor) who speaks with a lisp, and Fwith, a good Troll who travels with him and is learning the art of wood carving. Part of the challenge was that they finish each other's sentences in the scene and that they can't stand each other even though they travel together, but I think they do like each other as friends and trusted traveling companions.
So, here's my two most loved minor characters, taking a break from saving the world from evil to do some wood carving. This piece was mixed media all the way and kind of crazy to work on. It's a combination of watercolor, colored pencil, ink, and acrylic, all on watercolor paper. Took forever but I love the results! Blending the colors with the pencils was fun, especially since I don't usually use colored pencils and I consider myself to be pretty bad with them. The only acrylic use was the white highlights in the eyes and on the armor.
Watercolor, colored pencil, ink, acrylic on watercolor paper.
